alarm sounds when I use key to manually unlock door
so my battery in the key is dead and the screw is stripped so I cannot change the battery. When I manually unlock the door the alarm goes off and it is quite obnoxious. Does anyone know why or how to stop it? thanks
The only way to disarm the alarm system is with the remote; manually unlocking the door only unlocks the door and doesn't shut off the alarm. Assuming the key and transponder are good, inserting into the ignition should silence the alarm. (I don't remember if you have to turn the key on or not.)
I think the only way to prevent the alarm from sounding is to not set it. How are you arming the system if the battery remote is dead?
You'll definitely want to replace the battery; you should be able to extract the screw from the back with ordinary hand tools, even if it's stripped. Be sure to replace with a good screw so you don't end up in the same situation later.
Thanks I just started having the same problem (my power lock on the driver door died and I haven't had it fixed yet). Having the alarm go off every time I manually unlocked the door was driving me nuts!
Do you know does locking the doors manually prevent the alarm from being armed?
I know this is an old thread, but my car does indeed arm when I use the door lock button before closing the door. I don't need to use the fob to arm it. I never tried to arm it by locking it using the key in the door however.
On the flip side, using the door key does not cause the alarm to sound regardless of how I armed the system. Of course, my key fob battery is still good.
Locking the doors using the driver side or passenger side buttons arm the alarm also, says so in the owners manual, try pushing the lock down yourself and it shouldnt arm that way
