1-2 months before you'll see your hoses sweating if you got the start-up heater hose ...


I've been using the 15/32" Autozone PCV hose on the "dirty" side of the catch can (the PCV valve to catch can route) for about 2 months now I think and no issues ... the hose is staying dry and not collapsing.

On the "clean" side of the can (can-to-intake-manifold) I'm still using the heater hose BT originally supplied to me when I got the can at about 5900 miles, and now at about 10500 miles, the hose is still fine ...

Yes you know he does!! I also have the 15/32 Crankcase Ventilation hose on mine and haven't had any problems with it. I know myself and AWD GABE have been following multiple threads about this on different forums and so far this has been the best cheap solution. I don't think anyone with a 5.7 has had a problem with it. If you have the 6.1 it works fine as well but you have to watch the 90 degree bend as it can cause it to collapse.

 

same here... no problems using that 15/32 crankcase vent hose and gabe and i have had it on for the same amount of time

 

And this 15/32 is only purchased at Autozone, or can it be fond at advnaced auto parts, pepboys, etc?

 

I laos just installed one of these, but i shouldn't ever have the isues with hose collpase, do you think?

you SHOULD be able to go to PepBoys, Advance, or any of the other chain stores and give them the part #65816, thats Goodyears part number for the hose.

BUT thats also saying that everyone has Goodyear hoses, given that sometimes certain Corporations will get exclusive rights to carry a certain company's brand.

 

I just replaced the hose coming off the driver side fitting to the back of the engine with the 15/32 PCV hose....the stuff doesnt look or feel any different then the heater hose, did I get the wrong stuff? The box the guy at autozone cut the piece from said crankcase ventilation

 

No they look and feel exactly the same but something in the PCV hose stops the oil from sweating through like the heater hose. They must be made out of different material. Sounds like you got the right stuff so don't worry about it!

 

I switched to the Autozone 15/32 PCV hose a couple of months ago and haven't had any issues.

i made them when i was bored in class the other day. just soem 5056 ALUM tubbing, and soem an6 fiting , bent them up, flared them and put them on. So far so good lol

 

the trickiest part was jsut getting the AN fittings into teh stock intake ports lol. thats theonly thing i have left to realyl finishm but not too bad

 

I did mine this week, I used the starter hose on both sides.. Guess I'll need to upgrade the dirty side at some point this week. Anyone know the length for the dirty side? What temp are these good till?

 

I am in the process of upgrading my hoses to braided lines. Just found this thread. Glad to see I am not the only person having this issue with the starter hose.

 

Replaced my with Crankcase Ventilation Hose and the gas/oil isnt coming though anymore.

 

anyone tried the normal garden variety hose ??? any drawbacks to it ?

 

Will 20 inches of 5/32 Hose be long enough for the dirty side?
