Latest update, soap and water got into bcm after front windshield tint and shorted out the bcm. cost is 1423.18+tax.. I forwarded the bill to the shop. They are going to call dealer and pay bill over phone. I’ll post an update once that’s done and hopefully can get back on the road with my car.

If they pay to have the problem corrected than that would be more than enough for me.
I would consider it lesson learned about getting my windshield tinted.
Thanks to a forum like this I learned that tinting the windshield can go terribly wrong as I have considered it in the past

Just a random thought, if you have your windshield tinted and you get in an accident at night and someone gets killed, could you be charged with manslaughter?
Wouldn't one be charged with manslaughter regardless?
Unless someone went as dark as 5% and/or has extremely weak eyesight and/or was distracted...who knows ¯\(ツ)

Just a random thought, if you have your side windows tinted and pull out in front of a motorcycle or car and someone is killed can you be charged with vehicular manslaughter.

Same question different window. Same answer as Powerman gave.

And it doesn't even distinguish if the tint was smoked or clear on the front, side or rear. Most window tint laws are enacted in large part for officer safety.

Lol, I wasn’t trying to be a dick. It was a serious question. Maybe I should have worded it better. If you have the whole windshield tinted let’s say 28% and you were driving down a dark road at legal speeds and you hit a person crossing the street and that person died, could you be charged with a felony being that tinted windshields are illegal? 28% is the darkest you could do for the front side windows in Florida.

You have to be specific what the definition of tint is. There is clear tint specifically to block UV. Some states allow any window to be tinted with clear.

Many states allow dark tint (based on their VLT limity) on the front windscreen to the AS1 line or 5 inches down the front window if there is no AS1 line marking.

It's all State specific. Is the OP legal? He hasn't volunteered and said what tint he installed on the front window and if it was the complete window or just to the AS1 line.

And you are correct in you last post that it does promote the thinking process. Water damage during the tint process. And liability whichever window is tinted. Another thing about windshield tint is window stickers. They are carefully removed with a razor and stuck back on using Chapstick.

Well I’m speaking in regards to the whole windshield being tinted with a shade. If it’s just the AS1 then it’s should be a non issue.

Another question would be, same scenario as my previous post, except you rear end a car and cause significant damage. Can your insurance deny a claim if the police report notes you have illegal windshield tinting?

I would defer that question to an insurance agent for the official answer. But my guess is the insurance has to cover the damage as it is an equipment violation causing the accident. Would probably be no different if you were cited for a moving violation like speeding, or following to close, and it caused an accident.

A waiver is what I would have expected from the start. Every tint place I used had me sign one they were not liable for any damages to the car. Only warranty was the tint. And most refused to tint the windshield below the legal line.
Glad your car is back!
