Wheel adapters for AWD

Hi everybody . So I've only had my '14 rt for a couple months now and I just can't bring myself to buy new wheels and tires. I've seen that because I have AWD with the 19in wheels there are not a whole lot of options. I decided to save a little $$ and get adapters to get the wheels more flush with the fenders (hopefully) instead of buying bigger wheels.

I think I understand that the AWD has a different bolt pattern than the RWD but then I really don't get how the different offsets come into play.

My questions are can I add adapters to the AWD with the stock 19in wheels and tires? Which ones should I get, brand/size? Will I even be able to get the stock wheels and tires "flushish" to the fenders by adding adapters? Most of all is this just a bad idea because it will screw up my baby?

Thanks for the help!

I have a 2013 awd. There actually are some good options for rims for the awd. The only thing you have to make sure to get is ones with a high offset. I am replacing mine with 20 inch matte black rockstars for car with an offset of 44. The awd wheels have an extremely high offset compared to the rwds but trust me you can find some good ones for it.

As far as I know, the bolt pattern is the same and it's simply the wheel offset that's different (at least that how it was on my '05 Magnum SXT AWD)

Adapters won't help. Offset is the spacing of the tire/wheel drum to the center disk of the wheel and where it bolts onto the hub. Adapters will push the center disk further out, opposite of what you want.

In other words, imagine a flat disk bolted to the hub. The take a tire and move it inside or outside of the centerline of that disk. Kinda like this... (the middle of the car is on the right of the image)

The black line with the cross represents the disk bolted to the hub. The gray box represents the tire in relation to the center disk. AWD is on the right side of the illustration.

You can see the "offset" of the tire to the center disk in each case. 'Plus' or 'minus' offset is in relation to the center line.

Do you want the tires to sit further in or further out?

Hmm ok that's a really good description of what the offset is and with a diagram ?. From the diagram looks like I would want the look of the offset in the first pic on the left. I'd like to move my wheels out to give the impression of a fatter tire and wider stance. Would an adapter not help change the offset with my current wheels?

Right now tires are more inside the fenders. You can see it more in the back.

I'd like to go for more of a flush look like this pic but working with the wheel/tires I have now.

What you are trying to do would require a pretty big wheel spacer. What did you have in mind?

I have 20x8" factory repo charger wheels on my awd, and they seem a little more flush than the stock 18" wheels. The tires arent very fat, as i'm running 245's, but on my next set i may go to 255's, as they seem to be the widest i can fit on 8" wheels.

Ive seen ppl put rwd 20" viper repos on their awd cars and they stick out like a skateboard and make the car look inbred. If you're not going for that look, u can look at a 20" or 22" wheels with a high offset, +38mm to +55mm and get at least a 8.5" wide rims, and put wide tires to line it up with the fender and give it a nice wide look.

I dont know anything about going staggered on the awd, but rwd guys get 10" wide rear rims and get fat tires to give it that wide look.

Thanks for the info. Really looking to keep my current wheels and tires right now. When the tires wear down then I'll think about getting new 20in wheels. Don't think I want to go to 22s.
