Brakes Squealing, Brake Rotors etc....ACTION NEEDED

Okay, I have read enough complaints just on this forum about the brakes that its time we actually did something about it. Why? Because as I write this my Charger is in the shop right now sitting on a lift with bad front rotors, completely shot. The first incident happened at 600 miles then 871 and now they are shot at 7600 miles. My brakes were making a noise at low speeds, like backing out of my garage, pulling into my driveway etc, shaking when stopping, pulsating when stopping. One of the service writers agrees where I took it that something should be done about it. The bull that this is NORMAL is BS and we know it.

I have contacted Chrysler and have talked to them about this and they are sending out a District Rep to take a look at this.

So now is the time for us with any type of brake problem to put this in the forefront and get/take some action. This problem had been addressed on the SRT models and all they have to do is go in with ONE bad rotor and they get the Slotted rotors. If they even complain about the squealing we are hereing on our R/T's they get new upgraded brake pads, no questions, its a TSB.

I would like everyone that is having problems with brakes to put thier name on this thread. I will take the forefront and address this issue with the DR and see what can be done about this.

The 07 models have been upgraded with slotted rotors and from what I have read and a better braking system, (along with 20" wheels, which look sweet by the way). So Chrysler knows there is a problem and now its up to us to try and make them address and fix this NOW.

I would love to put my name in - my discs at the front are awful, but I am at 15K miles and did not complain before...therefore I have missed the boat. I will be asking to have the slotted fronts and rears put on when the pads are shot...along with any new pads that are available.

and the list goes on and on, yet hardly anyone has gone to the NHTSA site and made a complaint. If we do then there will be a recall. GET ON IT AND DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

I see grooves in the rotors at 450 miles and brake dust all down the side of the car.

i too have brakes that make more noise then what one except.I chalked it up to a preformance brake issue.they have seem to have quieted down when the car is used more often[my daytona sits 5-6 days between outings. Car has just over 6k miles

Front rotors warped before 10k. I just hoping they start acting up again.(like they wont) I will request to be upgrade to the 07 slotted rotors also.

Noticed mine doing it after about 200 miles. 1354 miles now and the squeeling is much louder and more frequent.

Already had mine replaced at 4000 miles. They were not squealing, but had grooves since new. Good Luck!

I have a V6 and my brakes vibrate and squeal a little... so put me down!! At 7,000 miles!!! I'm going to the dealer to have them look at it today...

Add me to the list. I have had the problem from delivery and now have 16,000 and the dealership has given me the same "NORMAL" line from day 1..
I wonder if I had bought a Viper if they would given the same answer..

My brother is not on this forum but he just told me that he took his RT to the dealer yesterday for new brake pads and warped rotors...they replaced the pads and turned the rotors..not for free...his car has 20K on it..

I just called the dealer to see if I could bring it in to be looked at.. he said for me to bring it Thursday if something needs replaced they have it already on site.... I will update you guys as neccesary...

add me to the list. dealer told me i need new rotors and pads at 24000 miles. I can't believe some of your chargers needed new rotors at such low mileage and DC isn't doing anything about it.

Hi, a lurker unlurking for this.
This should be stickied and DCX should do something about this. You buy a 42k car you don't expect the brakes to squel.

I noticed the brakes starting to squel at approx. 1500 km and it's now at 2002 km and i am thinking about bringing it in to the dealer. I also detailed my wheels approximately 3 weeks ago and the front wheels are light/dark greyish while the rear wheels are still sort of shiny. Brake dust build up?? The difference between the front and rear wheels is really noticeable.

I love my Charger but i don't want this to really f**k up the car. I don't want warped rotors.

Anybody who has any other info. about this issue ie. how they resolved it, dealer experiences, etc... i'm sure everyone would be really interested in hearing about it.

Will take delivery of an 06 R/T tomorrow. Car has a few miles on, though never titled, and I made a great deal on it. At 80 mph I feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel.
Did not feel the same at the wheel of a new 07 Daytona I also drove.
Is that vibration (at about 80) how you other folks began noticing this brake problem?

This might be a tire balance issue more then the brakes. Take it back to the dealer and let them know. Get the early documentation and have them check that tire balance.

You can add me to the list too. I have 12,000 on my TB now and for the past 3,000 the brakes have started to make a noise. I was waiting to get it looked at when my headlights come in and the dealer had to have the car anyway to replace them (outer light TSB).

Add me to the list..I took the car back to the dealer at 15k..they replaced the brakes and resurfaced the rotors...a thousand miles later,,,,same problem..I will be going back again..

Put me down...been squealing since around 4k miles. Asked the dealer to look at it and got the "metallic brakes squeal like that" BS. There should be no squealing with today's technology and materials. Makes a new $30K vehicle sound like junk! :evil:
