“Scat Pack Looks” (updated)

by Michael Volkmann on Monday, March 13, 2017
For March 2017, buyers of the Charger R/T or R/T Plus that opt for the Super Track Pak option group will also get “Scat Pack Looks” with new SRT appearance items; some are also on the Charger R/T Max.

The Super Track Pak option group has been popular with enthusiasts; it adds, among other things, performance tires, a 3.07 rear-end gear ratio, and three-mode stability control. Now, the Super Track Pak will also have an SRT hood, Mopar cold air intake, SRT door sills, and SRT rear fascia with exhaust tips.

The package sales code is AWD (not to be confused with all wheel drive), lists for $1,205. It includes, in addition to the 3.07 ratio, Performance Pages, and three-mode stability control:

245/45Z20 performance tires
Performance brakes and suspension
Functional hood scoop and black grille with body-color fascias
Lower body-color cladding
Mopar cold air intake
Rear parking assist
Projector fog lamps
“Performance steering wheel”
The Charger R/T Max (code 2DS) comes with the performance brakes, suspension, and steering wheel, and the P245/45Z20 tires. The Super Track Pack is not available on the R/T Max.

Yea that sucks. I get that people want to get the "looks" of something they can't/won't afford, but I don't like it at all. There's pretty much no visual distinction now from the R/T trim upwards, as any Hemi can get the SRT fascias.

Huh, this is one of the reasons I was going to get a Daytona, SRT looks. Seems like this would be an even cheaper option, although I do love the Daytona interior and goodies.

I will add that it is interesting, the cost of all of this will put it really close to a Scat Pack.

An R/T owner could never add such upgrades later for 1200 bucks. that's a bargain.
I have never cared when a lower performance model 'looks' like a high or top model. When you have the actual top dog, and they have just a hood scoop, who cares?

It kind of looks like this is a variant of the Road & Track package for 2017, which is what I thought the 5.7 Daytona was... the R&T replacement.

How much cheaper is it compared to an SRT or scat pack? If you keep adding options and packages to a trim you will loose in the long run when you trade in. Those packages and options add no value. I had an RT with road and track with super track pack with all of the available options, my trade in value was RT rear wheel drive. They gave me nothing or wanted to give nothing for the road and track with STP packages.

Super Track Pak is only a $ 1,205.00 option on the R/T 5.7. It's a damn good value considering what all is included. I couldn't care less that it doesn't increase value at trade in time.

Most people who aren't into cars, or muscle cars wouldn't be able to tell a difference anyway.

I can't understand why the Mopar group cares so much for their trim level. Who cares if it's a Scat, Superbee, Daytona, SRT 392 or Hellcat? Some folks fly off the rails if someone installs a flat bottom steering wheel or SRT hood. Dude at the Hellcat forums called an SRT 392 a poseur because he installed the Hellcat hood with the extra vents.

You bought your car I'm assuming, because you thought the features were worth the price or you could afford it.

Makes me long for the GM mentality where you made it your own and if you dropped in a LSA into a V6 RS they applauded and didn't screech about upbadging.

Enjoy your car and stop trying to affect what others do with theirs.

Hey we are all entitled to our opinions just like you. It's a discussion. Some like the changes and some don't. No need to get angry at those who don't. I personally liked the fact that the 392's were set apart a bit from the rest of the Charger crowd. It was a statement. Kinda cool. Unique. When I'd go into a Dodge dealership back in 2012 and see an Srt I thought man that's a fantastic car. It's the tops and looks the part. Now, not so much. Anyway like I said everyone is entitled to there opinion.

No...just better pads......Semper Fi

Actually, I was just happy they brought back the STP for the RT's . It saved me some cash as far as modding. Plus you get the performance pages ect. I also thought the Daytona was the Road and Track / STP replacement. I would have been happy w/ the regular RT body style.....but for an additional 1k, it is quite a deal. Plus it is for my employment and since they ultimately shot down the Daytona (which makes no sense) I jumped on this. I do understand some of the 6.2 & 6.4 owners bewilderment, though.

I think the Road and Track option is great for those that want the 5.7L Hemi and do not want to pay for the 6.4L. You get the looks of the scat and a strong motor. The 5.7 is more friendly to boost than the 6.4. If someone decides to go FI in the future they would have a very nice fast car. 8 lbs is common with the 5.7

Standard 5.7L R/T and Daytona brakes is code BR5. The performance BR6 brakes are the same calipers but different pad material. The rotors are the same size front and rear but the front rotors are slightly thicker.

too bad - in 2013 BR6 meant pursuit brakes, had the same calipers, but better pads and a 1" bigger diameter rear rotor. That is what I upgraded my R/T with original BR5 brakes to.

That doesn't change that the SP was still the replacement for the Superbee. All Chargers where updated and changed for 2015MY. some people are just but-hurt cause it doesn't say SRT anymore. It even still has a Superbee emblem

Duh!

:grin2:

Now you're just being obtuse trying to argue a point that's already been established to deflect from the fact that your original post in regards to the 2014 Superbee's optional equipment was absolutely incorrect

Plus, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the present Scat Pack replaced the older 2012-2014 Superbee in the current Charger hierarchy, which I've already noted numerous times in this thread. However to claim that the 2012-2014 Superbee is the same model as the ongoing Scat Pack Charger (despite sharing a few similarities) is completely erroneous, no matter how many times you repeat the same sentiment.

Hey Scotty,
Any idea what shocks / struts are on the Performance Suspension (SDE)? I have inquired w/ Dodge themselves, but no answer. I know the initial reveal for the 5.7 T/A and Daytona stated the Bilstein's were being installed. Supposedly the RT w/ STP has the same suspension as the 5.7 Daytona. I thought you might know...also sway bar size? Seems sways are always changing yearly.....thanks

Andy

Thanks for the info, Sal. Mine is in the build process as we speak...can't wait. :beer_yum:

Sorry, not a fan. I bought a Scat Pack because I wanted the 6.4 and the aggressive appearance of the SRT. Much like what the older 2012 -2014 Super Bees did with the engine and appearance.

Why don't we just give everyone the appearance so that there's no uniqueness to the individual models? Yeah, that's the ticket.

I'd be REALLY pissed if I had ponied up for an SRT.
