Hey I have a 2013 charger police interceptor I can open the trunk with my fob and the interior button by the steering wheel but when I push the button on the trunk it won’t open , is there a trick to get it to work ?

Being technical, the police version of the Dodge Charger is a Pursuit. The Interceptor is made by one of the other brands.

If you get a new fob programmed from the dealer, it might open the trunk. My original fob does not open the trunk, the one I bought for my lady does open the trunk. My original fob does not have the trunk symbol the trunk button, the 2nd fob does have the trunk symbol on the trunk button; does your fob have the symbol?

If you push the interior trunk release button in the car when the engine is not running, the trunk will not open. Does not matter which fob was used to start the car.

Start the engine, try the interior release button again! This always opens my trunk.

Since guns might be stored in the trunk in a Pursuit, this is actually a feature, not a failure.

I think the trunk release button on the Pursuit trunk lid is programmed not to work; otherwise anyone walking past the Pursuit could push the button and open the trunk. Only working with the key FOB and interior release button allows LEO to control access to the trunk.
As Gary599 stated, reprogramming the Pursuit features (disabling "Police Lighting Feature") restores the normal civilian function of the trunk lid button.

The key fobs for my 2014 all open the trunk. The original poster is able to also so maybe that's something that was changed for later years?
What has to be done to make the outside trunk button work still applies, I've never made that change.

Mine didn't have door handles on the iside rear doors at all. I had to buy the kit off ebay to add them and the working window switches.

The exterior trunk release button that's on the trunk does not work if you don't have the key fob with you
Depends on whether the doors are locked. If the doors are unlocked you can open the trunk, using the exterior trunk release button, without the key fob with you. At least that's the way it works with my 2012 Charger. Behavior may have changed for later model years ... I don't know.

I bought this one. Actually, I bought two as there are occasional reports of them not working. Both of mine work. They were a "favorite" in a Ford diesel truck forum at the time. I bought them to work with TorquePro on a Samsung tablet.

There is some great information in the Chilton service manuals, which are free via most public library's website. For example, repair/service, troubleshooting guides, and technical service bulletins. Just log into the library's website and search for Chilton and it should bring up the Chilton Library.

Below is a screen shot for 2013 Charger showing the diagnosis section. I have attached one of the diagnosis sections, however there were a couple more.

No to confuse anyone for the original posters problem about the outside trunk release button not working on a Pursuit that's how they're made, there's nothing wrong with it.
