Trunk button stuck

Ok, been dealing with this for a while now.
The little black button on the outside of the trunk that you push to open is stuck. Whenever I am in park, it keeps trying to pop the trunk open. I get out, close it, and when I get back in and shut my door, the vibration must be just enough to make contact again and it pops back open.
I looked at it and its stuck about halfway in. Does anyone know how easy (and how) that assembly comes apart so I can clean/fix it?

Not any good ones. If it were mine I would spray a little WD 40 on it. But only if it looks "sticky stuck". If it looks like it's just jammed in too far you will probably need to remove the whole thing. Perhaps the spring has jumped off its guide. I was just going to suggest just pull the harness off to prevent the power to the switch but then you can't get in. So never mind on that. ;)

What year charger do you have?

The button is not stuck, but actually broken. It is a known issue. Happened on my car as well.

You can buy the new part on ebay for $16.

Install from start to finish takes about 20 minutes. Very easy. Open the trunk, remove a few plastic push clips holding the trunk liner in, pull down the trunk liner enough to get at the 3rd brake light, I think there might be some screws not 100% sure, remove the old button, disconnect the wire connection, put the new one in, put it all back together.

It will then work good as new.

I've got an '11.

I just found a TSB on this. Apparently the plastic button on some years was prone to leaking and let water in to short out the circuit. The TSB is to replace the plastic button with a rubber one to get a better seal. Parts and labor at the dealership is $65. Got an appointment to take it in this week.
