Roasting the tires

I don't understand. I test drove a Mango on Saturday, pulled out of the dealer lot, and went for a cruise. I stopped on a back road, turned esp off floored it, and it left black marks through 3rd gear. Now that I bought it, I cant get it to spin hardly at all, maybe a 2 second screech, but thats all. Why was it good to me then and not now? I have tried on several types of road, and nothing. What's going on here???

What usually happens is you have to give it a little power brake to get em spinning then they spin hard and it hits the rev limiter or second gear and its over unless you use the brake to keep it under 5 grand till you get moving enough

this question has been addressed several times...... too many variables involved.... tires, temp, road, as well as the adaptive "learning" of the cars pcm...... do a search and you will see. some have done the fuse pulling thing and reset the pcm.

Yeah, I didn't spend $27k to not actually enjoy it. I mean come on, too many people buy these cars to baby them around on the weekend like they are some fragile piece of glass. Not me, when I work hard enough to buy my toys, I like to play with them, not look at em. What's the point? Anyways, if this car cannot handle getting the tires roasted on it once in a while, what a piece of crap. Are these cars really built that cheap?

1) there are many ways to enjoy such a machine - your way may not be the 'only' way.
2) of course these machines are able to take abuse - doesn't mean that they have to be abused.
3) 'Too many people'......who, when and where was this sample taken - I need facts!!!! :)
4) the point is that according to the laws of physics, the harder you use them, the sooner they are ready for the junk heap (and that's a fact...).
5) any car can 'roast its tyres', the point is....what's the point????
6) no - they're not built 'that cheap'....however, even the MOST EXPENSIVE toys (and I'm talking about figures that you and everybody you know....in your whole life....would ever be able to pay for) get screwed up with excessive and abusive use............

End of the day - abuse as you feel necessary.....laws of physics say = turns into cr@p sooner.......

No disrepect meant. We are all entitled to our own opinion, The way you enjoy yours may not be the same way I enjoy mine, I guess the bottom line is that these cars are awesome, and need to be enjoyed in some way, shape, or form, I just like to play hard.

Due to cost of said vehicle....I need mine to last! :)

If you're going to use the brakes, very light pressure on them and stomp the gas. Too much pressure on the brakes apparently limits the the RPM's to 2000, which was the problem I was having. Once I figured that out, they light up real nice.

Guess I'm missing something....

Roasting the tires? Never tried to....what's the point in over-stressing the drive train, tires, wear and tear, etc?

Now, pushing it up over 130 or so on open road...... :)

If you've got the dinaro to buy a neat car like this only to abuse it, I want in on some of your financial angles for the long haul!

Roasting tires may look great, but it serves no practical function.

Whenever I see someone doing that, it's fun to watch, but like tramp said, it's an exhibition of a loss of traction. And that could be due to lousy and/or worn out tires, a slippery surface, and the already talked about "encouragement".

But at least it also means there is enough power in there to get 'em spinning.

I haven't cooked mine yet - on purpose. Maybe I will someday when no longer care about the tires on mine. But I'd rather keep the tread money for other things.
