Rear end or Transmission slipping

I have a 2014 Dodge Charger R/T with the 5.7 Litter engine. This car has just past 5,000 miles of use and we noticed during the cool weather a noise coming out of the rear end when first putting in drive position.
We always park the car in the garage and now that its cool we back the car out of garage and put the car in drive and press on the accelerator and it makes a thumping(slipping)noise. IF we let the car warm up for maybe two minutes and then back out of garage and put in drive it don't make the noise. IS there a need to take the car in for service(in the past the dealers here was not very helpful in fixing the problem with a musty smell out of A/C vents) and take a chance of them finding a problem or let it run this way till it makes noise always?
I did call one of the dealers and they said if it was slipping out of the transmission it would set a code. This is no faults on car. Let me know if you have an idea. Thanks!

Letting it warm up a little wouldn't have any effect on the rear, so the issue isn't there.

If it is the tranny, you won't be able to diagnose anything until it starts make the noise routinely and/or sets codes. These transmissions are notorious for noise gremlins that come and go, but aren't anything to worry about.

My suggestion is to just keep driving it normally and see if it gets any worse before trying to decide is any service is required.

Is the noise you're hearing a generalized loud clunk? These transmissions are very rough when you pop them into drive or reverse (reverse is especially clunky for me). I've got a 2012 RT R&T just for your reference.

Even during hard shifts I can hear some odd noises on occasion. I've had no codes/issues to date.

Rear end noise

No this noise is like it's trying to turn the tires in the rear end but slipping in the process and it gives a shaking or rattle noise. Can't really describe it but more like a feel of slipping. It has not set any codes and I guess I'll wait till it starts faulting enough to set codes. Thanks!
