Actually it's great that they brought it to your attention - or did you have to ask what the heck happened to your wheel? It's great that they understand that they are responsible. And that's just it. They are an auto repair place. They have many more resources and contacts than you do.

They should be able to locate a new or same as the others condition wheel without you having to worry about it. Basically it should be "when should I come back later this week to have the replacement installed". They destroyed it, so they should deal with it. Unless you have a overriding reason to search for it for them, they should take care of it.

 

They didn't bring it to my attention. After I noticed the damage I stood there in shock for 10 seconds or so & went into the garage and asked who just worked on my car. A man who didn't speak English very well said he did but wasn't allowed to leave the garage. The service rep that I dealt with was also there, so I took him to the car to show him the damage. He was dumbfounded & called the guy that worked on it out. At first he denied it, saying it was already damaged, then I flipped out & the rep I dealt with flipped out on him for lying. I was told to come back the next day to speak to the manager which I did. It was the manager that told me to buy a replacement that I'd be reimbursed for.

 

So order a brand new wheel from the dealer and present the bill to the Pep Boys. I'm not seeing a problem here.

 

Yeah just go to a Mopar dealer near you and order it direct.



So did the guy ever own up to it? I mean I'd be more curious HOW that happened than anything. That's not just some curbing going on there.

Zero skill involved to do that kind of damage! Check your interior for damage and dirt too, Dumb tech can get in cars with screwdrivers in pockets and do lots of damage.

Secondly, did you walk around the car with them beforehand showing them your wheels were undamaged? If not, that's strike two.

And for you ordering a wheel and bringing him the receipt, f that! Get the part number from your dealer and tell HIM to order the wheel.

I previously worked at a pep boys back in college. I'm not sure if it was just my store but lets say I would not let any of their techs touch anything within a 10 feet radius. My first day working a customer's oil drain plug came off in the parking lot, leaving from an oil change. Good think we kept oil-dry bags around to sprinkle on it! Ugh

 

Brand new wheel straight from Dodge, f--k em!

 

The shop rate for Pep Boys near me is $108/hr. Other dealerships range from $80's - $90's. One dealership is as low as $60 if you bought the car from them. Only the Bugatti dealership in my town is higher than Pep Boys. I see no reason to ever take any of my cars back there. lol.
