Hey,
I'm looking to start stalking the area for wrecked SRT8's so I can cannabilize them but I'm not familiar with the process. Any tips on dealing with salvage yards and any help finding my prey? I want their hood, calipers, interior, and other goodies.

Most salvage yards today will not allow you to remove the parts...and often you can't even go into the yards without an escort.
But there are still yards where you can remove the parts yourself, such as Pick-a-Part salvage yards.
Only way to find what you're looking for is to call or check on line.

i am an avid junkyarder, finding the right odd/rare parts, you can make a killing on Ebay.

the yards that you can pull the parts yourself in wont have a charger and the yards that have a charger wont let you pull the parts yourself.

not pulling the parts yourself adds to the cost. case in point, i needed a OEM seat for my K5 that after 5 months go thru Pick n Pulls i couldnt find (but would have cost $15) so i went to the "used auto parts store" (like what Cleveland pick a part would)and was escorted out into the yard where the yard monkey pulled the part for me, took me back and i was charged $85 for the seat.

then there is the fact that the cars are fairly new to the market and the odds are slim to none that you would actually find one at any of the yards, hence why Cleveland charges so much for their parts.

x2 - Well done, that sums it up quite nicely

Yea, I've abandoned the idea of pulling parts myself. I e-mailed a bunch of local guys to keep an eye on a SRT8 coming in and most said I had 1st go on any that come in.

Thanks for the advice!
