Aftermarket exhaust... what to do with OEM?

I have never purchased an exhaust system such as Borla or Corsa and may never do especially if I enjoy the stock system.

But if I do decide to go with a Catback exhaust what do I do with the OEM?

I very green so please forgive. Will the OEM be taken off in 1 large piece? Can it be broken down to smaller pieces without cutting? Just trying to figure out logistically if it would fit your trunk to move to your garage or would you need to keep in 1 large piece and fold down 2nd row seats?

It comes off in two pieces IF you specify you want them to remove it that way (passenger side will be very long, drivers side is just a bit of pipe after the muffler and the resonator). If you don't tell them to unbolt it and save it they'll just hack it to bits and thrown it in the recycle bin... I kept mine (it is in my backyard shed)

I bought the take off exhaust from a 18 Scat pack Charger. Sounds great on my 16 R/T. The pipes fit right in the box the Corsa exhaust came in. Did have to make up several inches were the active exhaust valves were, Corsa has you re-use the stock valves. Good upgrade for a 16 or older R/T

Nice. I guess my follow up question. Can the OEM be reinstalled? Or once it's taken off its trash?

No reason it couldn't go back on there as long as you don't toss anything. Honestly the active exhaust is so great I wouldn't mess with it but I know some folks just can't be stock!

Some aftermarket kits use the active exhaust and some don't. Make sure you keep it all!

Isn't it a great upgrade for some of the V6 cars?

Oh no. I would only consider a cat back system that integrates with the existing factory Active Exhaust. It would just be louder/deeper sounding. Still quieter while cruising. No way my wife would want anything to do with me if it was 110% loud at all times lol.

My 2006 R/T R&T was stock exhaust. It was louder than a regular R/T since it had the single pass middle muffler (instead of three pass) but it had more holes than the raspier Daytona so was pretty quiet around town off the throttle.

The 2019 is so much louder under all circumstances! I can't pull out of the garage and shift to park or those flaps open up... need to warm up with it in Drive! That's one feature I wish was programmable... valves shut when shifter in Park would be good.

My scatpack charger just did mid muffler delete and loved it. My wife’s hellcat Durango did same thing and she loves it. I did flowmaster outlaw on my Redeye but left the mid muffler and it sounds great without being overboard. Research those before spending big money on catback. Just my .02! Good luck.
