I have a 06 SE 3.7L and the throttle response seems very slow (even compared to my 99 Malibu with 130K miles!!). What can i do to improve this?

do you mean a 3.5? Anyways, you can do some of the basic bolt ons to begin, cai, exhaust, and predator. That should help it feel more responsive in those 3 things. Hope this helps you and I am sure others will chime in with other ideas.

Yeah Kentucky's right that's about all really, You can however gut the catbacks. You can do it yourself, or professionally, just remember to wear one of those medical mouth & nose cover's & some protective eye wear. Also, save the guts from it because you can sell them for a pretty penny. Sounds strange but the material it's made from are precious metals & people want them.

First, if you gut the catalytic converters, the computer will start throwing fault codes. Second, I don't know of any place that "professionally" destroys converters since it would be against the law for a street driven car.

Probably the biggest cause for this is that the Charger is drive by wire, which means there is no direct mechanical connection between the gas pedal and your throttle body. Your Malibu on the other hand had a throttle cable that connected your pedal to the throttle body.

Many people who are used to the throttle cable setup and buy a drive by wire car notice that it seems to take more input to initially get the car moving. My wife's DD is a '03 Grand Cherokee that uses a cable setup and when she drives the Charger I notice that it takes her a couple miles of driving to get used to the drive by wire.

Not to mention your Malibu (assuming it was a 6 cylinder) displaced almost as much as your current V-6, was a smaller, lighter car and had less drivetrain power losses than your Charger does. It can probably be best described that your Malibu felt more 'nimble' than your Charger does.
