Perhaps @DodgeCares can provide some insight.

If we want one, why can't we order one and get it? What does the Dealer sales have to do with the ability to the consumer to order the car? Why should the consumer pay a penalty for availability based what the Dealer sells for volume?

We are buying a vehicle made by Chrysler FCA, not the local dealer. They are just a distributor and we really don't give a shit what they sell for volume...we came to buy a car from Chrysler that we want.

Most importantly, the message this delivers is "You built It and We Came...but we were turned away."

We were denied the car we want simply because the Dealer can't sell enough of the other cars to let us get the one we want??

Something isn't right in this...

It's a reward to higher volume dealers. It's also a traffic builder.

Dealers survive on profit per car, FCA survives on volume.

I understand the volume issue with getting a hellcat on the lot but what about guys who just order one from dodge? This article sounds like even the guys who custom order one will not get their order?

"Eligible dealers only get one a month – either a Challenger or Charger, not both."

Based on that...I guess those who custom order it will receive it...in due time lol

so does this mean i cant walk into a dealership and order one? we can only buy what coming to the lot? custom orders?
Friend of mine, his dad buys a new car every year. His two son's buy a new car every 2-3 years. He's brought several new customers to the dealership. He gets to order a Hellcat, and did... people that show up once every few years are likely to be SOL.

Too many dealers will add "bonus" money to the purchase price.

I looked at a few HC's already and if you want to talk about dishonest talk about the markup from the MSRP. MSRP is 63-65k and the dealerships are asking for 79-83k...wtf? I know the dealerships will eventually lower the price with the stock increases and I know you have to haggle with them but they don't seem to want to budge anything lower than 75k...Luckily I am the kind of guy that doesn't mind waiting and getting it used with a few thousand miles on it. Whoever purchased my car first paid roughly around 37-40k for it and I got it 2 years later for a whole lot less with only 26k miles =) I am very happy for the people that was able to order them and get them for MSRP though! =)

As I understand it, and I cant prove it, just read it somewhere, is that Dodge is "allocating" Hellcats to the dealerships with the intend of eliminating dealership mark-ups. The theory is that those dealerships that sell HCs at MSRP will get more allocations and vice-versa for the dealerships that mark them up. We'll see.

The claim is, higher volume dealers are getting more allocations...

Attempting to allocated based on pricing is illegal and violation of franchise laws.

I hate bonus money and would never pay it, but that's just me :)

How can they mark up if you order one from the manufacture? They should be sold at MSRP! Arent most hellcat buyers ordering one custom to what they want not what shows up on the lot?
