Hi there

After the my Dodge Dealer said that the Brakes are still ok for the next 15'000 miles I checked the rotors underneath the car. The result worries me. is it normal that the pads are not "biting" the entire rotor?

Any advise if these rotors/pads require replacement would be helpful.

Note: I bought the car less than two year ago from a Dodge Dealer. Miles that time 37000, now 48000.

They said that they had replaced Rotors and Pads as the sold the car.

Many Thanks
Stefan

Whoever told you those were OK needs to find another line of work. New pads/rotors required. It may be possible to mill those rotors slightly to get them true, but those rust pits seem rather deep.

That seems pretty high. No need to go with Mopar parts as long as you stick to a decent name brand.

From Rockauto.com:

RAYBESTOS 780690FZN $67/each for front rotors
(or POWER STOP AR8773XPR if you want drilled/slotted for about the same price)

RAYBESTOS SP1149XPH $54 for front brake pads

So you've got about $200 in parts (plus shipping) and labor to install for the fronts. I suspect there's a similar large cost delta for the rears.

Walk into autozone. Get their best rotor and their carbon pads. It'll be cheap and they come with 3 and lifetime warranties. You hit the min thickness on the rotor or use all the pad, they give you new ones. <$500 to do yourself the first time - tools and all.

I wouldn't go another 15k on those.
