I was just reading the topic about a dealer claiming that he saw a 2008 Charger and that the SRT hood would be standard. So it got me thinking...

What is the most off the wall thing a salesman has told you?

I'll go first.

One salesman I talked to told me that in 2008 Dodge was dropping the 3.5L engine.

Hey B.. long time, no talk! Anyways.. i know that was just a "claim".. but was it an implication that they'd have 2.7Ls then jump to 5.1Ls?! or did you mean that chargers would be strictly HEMIs from this point forward?

The Salesman told me that, except for the seats, I would not be able to notice the difference between the R/T with the performance package and the R/T w/out.

actually, this might to true, i think you can do that with the police version.

Last weekend I had a sales woman tell me that they were expecting their 08 Chargers to arrive on the lot any day now...
Then she proceded to tell me that she could take my SXT in trade and put me into a new R/T for the exact same payment as my SXT with no money down. (they were asking 40k for a base R/T with no R&T and no sunroof) I asked her to explain and all she said was "piece of cake, we might even be able to lower your payment, lets go do the paperwork."
I shook my head and walked away. She followed me all the way across the lot to my car trying to tell me she could do it. I asked her if she could sell the car for 23-25k when they were asking for 40k and she said "get reasonable, no one in their right mind would sell that car for that price" I just got in my car and told her to look at ebay as I drove off laughing.

It is a piece of cake.. all you have to do is put in a stove and a head, then it qualifies as a second home (like a sailboat). Second homes qualify for a 30 yr. mortgage... your's set, piece of cake!

Before the SRT came out dealer stated that a Rumble Bee Charger was coming with 450 hp.
Warranty salesman told me I had a 2005 Charger, and that I must have a 48mo./48,000 mi. factory warranty, this as recently as 2 weeks ago.
Their paying these guys way too much.

This is not Charger related but when the 1st LH Intrepids came out a friend and I went to look at them out of curiosity. It was the first car in a long time that Ma Mopar built that was not based on the infamous "K" car platform. While we were checking it out a salesman asked if I was interested. I said "No, just looking. I would never buy another FWD car again". He said "The Intrepid was RWD". Then I handed him the sales brochure I had and said "You need to read this more than I do"

I believe they are dropping the 3.5 for the new 4.0. I dont know if it is all CG vehicles across the board but they have already done it in the Pacifica

At a Chevy dealer here in town I was test driving a new truck that had been lifted and had big tires etc. anyways it was a dog, hit the gas and you might as well be in a Prius. The salesman told me that it was because they had not yet reset the speedo to compensate fot the tire size.
