looking for some upgrades for my 13 charger srt
i already have the following
1- LMI true CAI
2- SOLO hi flow cats
3- SOLO cat back on the way
4- tuner is on the way
thinking of a throttle body
what do u suggest guys
will i see any gains on a stock motor
is this worth it
if not a throttle body what do u guys suggest
i wanna get something in the black friday sales
What Bigcountry was saying is correct here.
If an engine needs 650 cfm (cubic feet per minute of air) maximum to obtain it's power output, giving it 800, 1000 or more cfm won't affect anything but your wallet!
Exhaust will make a difference in sound but be careful on the amount of backpressure you have with a freeier flowing exhaust, the air coming out of the engine will be more lazy with less restriction. Bigger sound and a torque curve that is 1000 rpm higher will not make you very happy. Raising the torque curve will have your car getting it on at 50 to 60 mph vs 35 to 40 mph etc.
What you are after is more thermal energy release per fuel charge, faster flame speed, and more power out of the gasoline you presently have with a stock or modified engine.
Tuner will make a difference to the extent of adjusting the spark advance and distribution of spark.
Best way to get more power to the wheels is free up what is being used to do other things...sliding, turning and moving parts.
Remember that 6-7% of your energy loss is overcoming internal friction in the engine. If you can get half of that back think what it can mean.
With 470 hp x .07 = 32.9 hp div by 2 = 16.46 horsepower for free.
Make other changes and you can get more.
We ended up with our SRT8 getting 25 hp more and 32 ftlbs of torque. This was 3 tenths of a second, 2.5 mph and 2.5 mpg of fuel economy increase.:rocker:
