So the LMI is the way to go.

A CAI is all about what you want out of it.
Do you want looks? (just get what you like)
Do you want a nice sound (some are better than others but generally all make a better sound than stock)
Do you want a small performance gain on stock/mildly modded engines along with the sound and looks? (get an LMI true CAI or make your own)
Do you want 95%+ of the performance gain you can get on a stock/mildly modded engine from the best of them for less money? (Just replace your stock air filter with a high-flow drop-in)
There is little magic in
any CAI, they only add a
small amount of performance gain by reducing turbulence (increased flow) and bringing in cooler air than stock...and the better sound comes from the rigid tubing and high flow filter elements.
The real problem is that many of the aftermarket CAIs are poorly designed and will actually
reduce flow compared to the stock design resulting in performance
loss.
