The latter, it's open for better flow and pressure equalization. It's much better than the H-pipes you see on the dual exhausts you see for many older cars.![]()
Is the X closed so it move the exhaust from left side to the right side?
Or is the X open, where left and right meet. Then the exhuast can go out either left or the right. With pressure, it should be equal.
No need; that's pretty much spot-on right there...From what I know the X is open in the middle allowing uneven pressures to switch sides to help even things out. I also think it allows for better scavenging of exhaust gasses. Someone with more knowledge will hopefully help you out better than I did.
