Finally, I passed 3000 miles, and got my car checked out at the dealership, got an oil change, was good to go.

Well, I was off today, and it was Tune and time night at the track, so I said "what the heck". Grabbed the Bride, and we took the 45 miniute trip down to Kilkare :) Darn I was excited.

Checked in, and dropped the bride off, and went straight to the staging area. People from the age of 16, to 70 came up and wanted to see under the hood, look inside, la de da... I was proud ! I talked to the guy that checked me in, and asked how many Chargers he has checked in to date, and he said " none, this is the 1st one I've seen that wanted to run "... Very cool.

I was kinda in the back of the pack, so finally they started to let cars go. After about 20 miniutes, I was finally 2 cars from making my 1st run ever. I intentionally made sure that I lined up next to a 2005 GT ( it was black just like my charger ). Then the next guy that ran decided to puke his transmission all over the frigg'in track. " motors off while we clean up the track ".

I talked to Mustang guy, and he told me that he was Bobbing at 14 even. He only once ( only been playing about 3 weeks ) has he broken into the 13's, and his son has done it twice.

I knew I couldn't beat him, but was at least hoping to get into the mid 14's, and who knows, if he missed a gear, or had a bad start, I maybe could have...

* heart pumping now *

Finally they the rolled the next 2 cars up, and finally we were next.

Right as we were starting to get up to the burn out area... :(

It friggin started to rain. ! ACK ! SCREAM ! WHAT ?

then the Tune and time was cancelled !

Just my luck.

Well, at least I tried ;) and there will be other days soon.

Heres some track prep ideas for your 1st run:

1: Inflate the front tires to the highest PSI and drop the rears tp about 25 PSI.
2: Remove the spare
3: DO NOT drive through the waterbox! You DO NOT need to do a large burnout, just a small spin of the tires to clean them off.
4: Deep stage the car at the light (STOP right after the 2nd light)
5: Stage the car at about 2,000 RPMs (that means brakes/gas at same time)
6: at launch, go JUST BEFORE the last light on the tree drops!
7: Ease the gas, let the tires catch and FLOOR IT!

HAVE FUN!

We have a 1/8 mile track here and lots of people show up in the "Sportsman Class" and run their regular street cars. This is bracket racing and one guy in a P.O.S. Ford Escort keeps running into the finals. The thing is so slow and he gets such a head start that the other guy gets antsy and red lights off the line and looses. This car does 11.5's or so in the 1/8 mile! It just goes to show you that if you are consistant, you can win.

To get to my original point, a guy in a Magnum R/T was running there last week and turning about 8.5 seconds at 75mph. That didn't seem too bad, but I have nothing to compare that too. The exhaust note was pretty non-existant as well. You couldn't even hear the thing running down the track. I hope my new Charger R/T (no R&T package) is better sounding than that! Otherwise, it is right to the exhaust shop from the dealership!

Hey DCO, I have heard and driven the R/T, no performance upgrade, it is very quiet at idle when standing behind it, but when driving and gettin on it a little, it has a nice ruble on the interior :)

OK thanks. That's what I want to hear. That Magnum was so quiet going down the track at full throttle it sounded like a Toyota Prius!
