Okay, lets try to help some people out with search. Use this thread to post your search questions and answers. PLEASE no hijacking. If you have a question that's not been posted yet, go ahead and post it. If you have an answer, post that. If there's discussion to solve a problem, after the discussion is done, I'll clean things up. That way nobody is going to have to scroll through pages of discussion to get to the answer.

I'll start with a question from DynoXG (I'm paraphrasing)

QUESTION
"In advanced mode, how can I search the title's only, for two words"

ANSWER
This is how you do it. Go to Advanced Search by using the link in the Search dropdown.

You'll get 3 pages of results, all having chrome AND wheels in the title. If you put quotes around "chrome wheels", the results will only consist of titles with the phrase "chrome wheels" in it.

TIP

Words of 3 or less letters are ignored, but you can add a wildcard. For example, you can search for HID if you use a wildcard. Try HID*

Hey guys n' gals... I recommend using the Google Search Bar at the bottom of the Active Topics page! It works much better IMO than the Search feature at the top!

I just tried both for chrome wheels and got better results with the Google Search. *Be sure to click the dot to search our forum and not the whole Web.

** The Search These Forums link in a14umbra's sig. takes you to the Google Search, too! :D

QUESTION

I just searched 02 sensor and a bunch of stuff about tire pressure sensors came up.

ANSWER
Since O2 is only two characters, it's ignored. Therefore, your search was effectively just for sensor.

To see what I mean, just search for O2 by itself.

If you click on Search in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, it automatically brings you to the Advanced Search screen.

This is a basic step-by-step guide on searching on a topic that is dear to your heart. There is a lot of great information which has been posted in the past by some very informed members that never gets used!

So:

Click the "Search" button at towards the top of the forums page and then click "Advanced Search" on the drop down menu that appears.

For your basic keyword search, type in the item/system name in the 'Keyword(s)' box (Hi-Flow, Bassani, Diablo, Catch Can, etc).

I find I get the best results if I try and search for words in the titles and not the body of the threads, as a thread search often throws up hundreds of results which aren't really on topic and just have that keyword thrown in by a poster somewhere. So - click the drop down menu which defaults to "Search entire posts" and select "Search titles only".

I tend to leave most of the other options boxes and head straight to the "Sort results by" drop down menu and then select "Thread start date" - you can leave the default "Last posting date" if you want to find threads that are relatively new, or still active. I prefer the thread start date, as it brings up legacy threads.

Then go to the drop down menu which is defaulted to "In descending order" and change that to "In ascending order". This then puts the threads in chronological order (oldest to newest). You can leave it in the descending order if you like - this will just produce the newest threads first.

I then leave the defaulted "Show results as" (Threads) rather than posts, as this narrows down the hits and makes trawling through the results less of a chore.

I leave the "Search in forums" option (on the right of the page) defaulted to "Search all open forums".

Then press "Search Now".

This is just a basic search, which is quite effective. There are lots of different ways of trying to get information by playing with other options, but you can explore these by yourselves! :)

Hope this is of help!

check the how to link in my sig. It will send you to page of links, look for the daytona threads.

Having said that, 300 Purple SRT are the rarest high impact color. Any 2008 Magnum SRT is the rarest of production cars. One GoMango SRT is by far the rarest. There's also a very small number of canadian white non decaled daytonas. Allpar has at least one page showing volumes, I've also seen it on wikipedia.
