Unknown sensor

Can anybody tell me what sensor the green one is for ? I’ve asked and everyone says it’s a coolant temp sensor but I’ve look everywhere and nowhere have I found that it is the coolant temp . The only coolant temp sensor that pops up is for the one on the water pump & I know the engine is dirty gonna get it cleaned up this weekend

It is a coolant temp sensor. That pipe below it feeds coolant, the piece it goes into is the coolant thermostat housing, if you unplug it the coolant temp stops reading. It is a coolant temp sensor.
