If you do a factory reset on a Harman RA3, you will lose nav

How do you tell which head unit you have. My stereo is Beats.

Having slow key issues and it does not always recognize my SD card till I put the car in gear. Was thinking about doing the reset but I have Nav.

If you have a 2017 with Nav, you have a UAQ radio.
if you reset, you don't lose Nav.
The only way to reset the unit is with WiTech at the dealer.
You said SD Card, Hmm.... All the 2017's I have seen have a Smart Media Hub with 2 USB ports and an Aux, no SD.
Smart Media Hub = continues to charge your device for 60 minutes after the vehicle is turned off.

Because these units are new, I would suggest to go to the dealer and have the tech create a tech request to STAR so they can get support on the unit.

Depends if you added Nav after the fact, or if it came from the factory with NAV. Mine came from the factory, I've done a couple of resets and it stayed.
No idea since I bought it used with 400 miles on it.

I decided to call the dealer and just ask about the hard reset. He said it would be fine to go ahead and reset and I would not lose Nav.. However, during our conversation he informed me there is yet another software Update to the 8.4 that came out Mid October. I had him give me the details and the list is extensive. From back up camera issues, losing Nav directions, radio jumping between media sources, touch screen not responding and a pile of other things.

I'm gonna head in and have them flash it this morning. Ill let you know if it fixes some of my issues.

Interesting...I don't see an update on the Uconnect website, just the Siri update from April. Did he give you a version number (like 8.4AN_RA4_16_16_13_MY15 or 16.16.13)?
Well here's the shits. I get to the dealer and they plug my car in for the update and realize it's already been done. WTF. He apoligizes and said they did it the last time the car was in but forgot to record it in my file. So I asked him if I can do the hard reset. He's said go ahead it would be fine. So I figure why not as long as it's here just in case something crashed. I jumped in and did the reset. All I can say is wow. It made a huge difference in the speed of my system. It was always a bit laggy and buggie before. Not any longer. Works just like my 2011. I hope it holds.

Anyway, put a call into the dealer about the Oct uconnect update. Ill pass the info along if and when they get back to me. :beerchug:

Hi zander21510,

The update Playhard would be talking about is the technical service bulletin (TSB), which are internal, and not published on the Uconnect site. If I can get some more info about it, I can find it on my end and post it for you.

Looks like it's for 2015 models. Came out August of 2015 not Nov. 2016 like he said. TSB: 08-035-15 REV. B. RA3/RA4 Radio Software Enhancements.

Poked around a bit, searching the TSB yields a thread on the Hellcat forums, and the WK2 forums actually have the TSB PDF. Sounds a lot like the SIRI update to me, it even uses the USB stick to update the radio software. Perhaps the TSB was updated, while the software itself is the same?

If you go into your Settings, you can find the radio software version, I don't remember where it is off the top of my head...might actually even be in the navigation menu.

EDIT: read a little further in the TSB, it is indeed version 16.16.13, the Siri update available since April
Yep. Same 16.16 from the siri update. I even asked him that before going in. Oh well. Worth a shot.
