Anyone have any information regarding the various options available on the 2006 Charger for Uconnect. I'm aware of the Uconnect hands-free rear view mirror, as we played with one of these before we bought our Charger this weekend. Supposedly, there is another Uconnect system that attaches near the radio? Would anyone have any information on that one? Also, does anyone have Part numbers for either one, as we'd like to add this option to our new Charger, either the rear view mirror or add on near radio.

Thanks!

AS I understand it, the mirror is what you get if you order your car with it, or it comes from the factory that way.

The small box is what you get if you buy a car that does not have it and you have the dealer put it in.

In either case, you should not need the number, since it would be impossible to confuse it with somehting else.

GLHS837,

Thanks for that info!

Does anyone have any info on how the small box is compared to the mirror style Uconnect? Does it work as well/better/worse than the factory installed mirror? Also, anyone have any idea on pricing for the dealer installed Uconnect unit?

Thanks,

Tom

Well, according to the accessories person at the dealer, the add on Uconnect doesn't use the factory speakers, as it has it's own speaker... (it mutes the stereo)

If this is the "level" of integration I doubt it works with the EVIC either... I'd almost rather order the "parts" for the factory unit and install it instead.

Does anybody know how the add on UConnect integrates with the EVIC or anything else.

Uggh...

You seem to be correct. After doing a little more checking and not finding much, I decided to try and call Dodge. The person I spoke to on the phone said that, indeed, the aftermarket Uconnect dealer install system does not integrate at all into the EVIC system, and has its own speaker and mic.

This doesn't seem like that great of an option then, especially at 250-300 bucks!
You can get a third part devide that does this for, at most, $200.

I'm very disappointed in that!

Does anyone have any information if it is possible to get the rear view mirror mounted Uconnect system, which is integrated into EVIC and plays through the stereo, installed after-factory? From what I read, apparently the wiring harness for this is installed in the headliner, so it really shouldn't be that difficult, IF you can get the part...

Thanks!

I have the Uconnect that is dealer installed, and it works GREAT. Although I do not have the EVIC system, the microphone works great and it is integrated into the stereo system so when you make a call or receive a call it mutes your stereo so you will never miss a call. I do not think the factory installed version can be installed with the rearview mirror option once the car has left the plant. i would highly recommend the dealer installed version. I have used it for 3 weeks and it is perfect and it has so many features, I havent figured them all out yet.

I'm sure the factory version can be retro-fitted, it just may require pulling off more parts than the dealer option version. Hell, the service manual has all the parts listed and instructions for removal and install.

Not integrating with the EVIC or factory speakers (not just MUTE) is simply silly. I don't understand why the "control module" that connects to the factory harness isn't the same part, but with a cabled button pad and mike instead of the mirror ones.

I'll have to get my parts guy to lookup the parts and cost... I'd rather not have the controls and mike in the mirror, but that may be the only option.

I'm having the guys at makeitmopar.com look up the mirror uconnect system. I'll report back what they tell me...

By the way, where's the best place to get the service manual for the 2006 Charger?

I went today to have the Uconnect system installed in my Charger but to my surprise, it was an aftermarket kit. I was expecting the dealer to replace the rear view mirror and add the necessary electronics and that would be it. The aftermarket kit contains its own speaker, mic, electroic, buttons, etc. I would really rather have the mirror option so that it appears to be factory installed. Does anyone know if this is possible? Does the wire harness exist in the headliner? What about the bluetooth electronics?
