It's time to change the rotors on the SRT, and I really wanna get a 2pc rotor that will still work with stock Brembo calipers. Anyone out there shed some light on the subject for me? What pads do you recommend running with a 2pc setup? If there is no 2pc, what are other SRT owners replacing rotors with?

Also, does it bother anybody else that the stock Brembo rotors on passenger side of vehicle are the same direction as driver side? Checked with dealer thinking that I got 2 sets of the same directional rotor installed on both sides of vehicle, he comes back to me with "Nope, there is only one part number for SRT rotors".

Me, I'll replace with stock when I do. they have worked just fine, and since I wont be running laps on a track, I expect them to keep doing so.

As for the slot direction, they are correct. It doesn't matter what direction they point, most makers, they point them both forwards becuase it looks better, but when SRT was trying to get us those rotors, I think the budget guys fought back, and the compromise was that they could get us "works", but "works and is aesthetically pleasing" would have cost too much. So they went with what works.

See, each part number costs, big time. My recent work with a major aerospace company has taught me that. I think it was a million dollars just for each new number. Becuase along with the number comes a lot of stuff.

A guy has to design it.

A draftsman has to draw it

A computer guy has to CAD it

Someone has to test it

Someone else has to figure out the logisitics of this part, through its lifespan

Yet another person has to ensure that al the paperwork affected by the part has to match. Part number books, maint. books, oh and the databases, those need updated too.

Now, once al this is done, this part number has to be made in the hundreds of thousands, and you have to keep a stock for decades.

So you can see how getting two identical parts, only separated by how they look, that could be a deal breaker. SRT has to make money or they go away, so they have to pick battles over money wisely.

Do you really feel there's a justified value in $700 worth of two piece hats and rotors that when you do need replacements...the rings alone will run you $250ea? Plus hardware.

You do? Call me and we'll make it a reality.

WTF!?!?

For once, I'm speechless. Do I know you? I MUST be misunderstanding you. I don't know if I should give you a piece of my mind, or just ignore this post.

*EDIT*
Ok, so I did a little researching on you and found out that are at least in the business. But that don't justify the way that I felt when I read your post. So, I was only asking if there is something out there that I can look into possibly purchasing and/or reading up more about. I am trying to find a pad and rotor combination that will best suit my driving style. Which is definitely spirited. I understand that 2pc rotors are over kill for my daily needs, but I am looking for aesthetic needs and something with better heat dispersion.

Is $700 justifiable? No, not really. But do you know my specific needs and wants? I mean are you really trying to get me as a customer with a post like that?

I think hes just asking you straight up if you want to spend that kind of money or not on a 2 piece. But TCE is an actual online store even though he didn't give you any info because he is not a vendor on this site. But he does sell what your looking for....

They were just legit questions, nothing more. No need to get riled up.

Most folks would scoff at the idea of such expense for such little gain. And most who ask have little or no idea what the potential costs are. Or the replacement costs.

You asked to "shed some light on it" and that's all I was hoping to do, without making it a big long post. Like he commented above; it was just a straight up question. If you want them and that criteria meets your goals you have an extended hand.

Aside from TCE's stuff (which is about as good and inexpensive as you'll get) he also really really knows his stuff. He'll tell you like it is, he won't try and sell you something you don't want or need. A lot of people don't understand how expensive good brake components and react much like you did when they find out the cost.

Two piece rotors aren't gonna do you much in terms of thermal performance as you likely don't get the rotors hot enough anyway (if you want to argue that point go read about MattRobertson on LXforums), and they don't have as much iron in them to soak up heat.

There are a few options for slots that face the "correct" direction DBA, and all the rotor companies that advertise on here. But those are all single piece.

Todd, are you still offering this deal? You mentioned the up front cost of $700.00.....was that each or pair? The rings for $250.00 is a bargain in my opinion. Hell, Tirerack wants $175.00 each for 1-piece brembos.

How much do these weigh compared to stock rotors? I would like to shed some unsprung weight.

Also, I don't like slots. I don't race, but I do drive very hard. My last 2 cars have had slots and I don't like them. 90% of the time I never get them hot enough to work properly and the pads chatter on the slots and transmit feedback through the steering wheel that I don't like. I do like cross drilled. I'm interested in keeping the stock brembo calipers, but I want 2-piece cross drilled rotors. Can you quote me?

Hmm, I wore a set of stock Brembo rotors clean out. Almost 70,000 miles, and never a chatter, and that isnt a complaint I have seen about them. Vibration under braking at speed, we see that a lot, but not chatter. Slots shouldnt need a certain heat to work, thats usually a pad thing, from what I understand. .
