I have 22" SRT replicas and there rapped in 265/35/22 Nitto 420's. Which by the way, are AWESOME tires. But i was wondering?? Whats the smallest tire that can effectively fit on a 22. I saw a 255, but can you go smaller???

The "255" part is the width, so that's dependent on the width of the wheel.

Some go 30-series on their 22's and 24's, which pretty much look like rubber bands.

Well the actual "recommended" size for a 22" wheel is the 255/30/22. Most people do not use this because of the small sidewall, plus they are generally more expensive than the 265/35/22.

I would say the smallest you should go is the 255/30/22.

Actually the reccomended tire is a 265/30, which is expensive. The 255/30 is more common and a lot cheaper. With out lowereing the car, I would stay at the 265/35 or the 265/30. Theres a guy running around at stock height with 255/30's and it looks like ****.

Thanks for the confirmation.
I have heard both sizes and by the numbers they are both correct since it is based on what size stock you have (17,18,20).

The stock 17" diameter w/ tire is 28.0 in and the 255/30/22 is 28.0 in. The 18 inch and 20 inch diameter are a little larger at 28.6 and 28.7 repesctively so the 265/30/22 is closer to it at 28.3 in though it is not perfect.

I think I remember the OP's car being a SE from a picture they had so I said 255/30/22.

Good point, I forgot about the 17's. In any event, why wouldnt you want a bigger tire? Find the guy running around ont he 255/30's and see how nasty it is.

I want to go smaller thinking it will help my ride height. Eventually i want to lower the car as well.
