OK, please accept my apologies in advance, because it's 2:05am and I am totally smashed...

I've been thinking about this thread for a while, but tonight something happened that crystalized things for me. It was OTT (over the top).

I was cruising down Erin Mills Parkway, and I come upon 3 Hondas that were riding in formation. They have walkie-talkies and are using hand signals. WTF? So I come up on this CRX (??? I think) and they fan out and take up all 3 lanes, and I can see them laughing with each other. So after about 3 sets of lights I finally see my line and leave them in the dust. But I still can't help thinking WTF?

The last time I saw anything like this was when I bought my first Corvette (about 15 years ago). EVERYONE wanted to race and/or mess me up. Every [email protected]$$, no matter what he was driving wanted to prove something.

I have noticed this time and again, since i bought the Charger, that when guys see that HEMI badge on the side panel, they want to prove something. Not necessarilly race, but they rev their engines and/or drive like crazy.

Anyone else experience this?

I think it might be Chargers in general. I have the 3.5L and get the same thing all the time.

I get it from time to time - everything from STi's to POS flatbeds. I ignore the lot of them. Some people get very upset that I don't want to play.....

I don't get anything like that tbh. I don't go revving my engine at lights or trying to get people to race me, but so far I have only had some guy in a BMW M3 even try to race me.....to bad I was in the left hand turn lane and he was in the left lane, lol. But he sure took off like we were going to race. I don't know what was going through his head. Hemi envy maybe? Oh well, probably better not to get that sort of attention from the cops anyway.

I got it all of the time when I first got my Daytona, but we live in a pretty rural area, so not very often anymore. I think the word has gotten out!

I get it mostly from my 16 year old's friends driving "Mommies" car and wanting to test me. Sorry son, pappa don't play that game. I won't be a part in yours (and mine) rising insurance.

Yeah I have just had my SuperBee for a day and I have already noticed this. I live in a small town and every teenager in town wanted a piece. Thats why I am thinking of a windshield decal. "NOTHING TO PROVE"

Mr. Smith, congrats on the new ride, and welcome to the forums from Las Vegas!
I don't have too many folks anymore getting squirrelly with me. The first 2 weeks I had the car it seemed like EVERYONE wanted a shot at the title. Lately though, it has really slacked off. Which is actually prolly pretty good. My car is not half as fast as it looks.

The first week I had the car, a VW GTI revved on me and did the whole speeding-up-and-slowing-down routine. Then he turned into a parking lot 500 feet later.

Yesterday morning I'm leaving for work, and some guy in a rice rocket with a park -bench wing is turning the corner at a 4-way intersection I'm approaching. I have my windows down to get a breeze going through the car, and he takes one look at me and revs to the limiter, letting his fart can sputter and crackle. Mind you, this is 6:30 AM in a residential neighborhood. As soon as the exhaust echo went away, I swear I heard a couple of babies screaming bloody murder. Way to go, jackhole; you probably just ruined someone's entire day because you think you have something to prove.

People try to test me on the freeway all the time. I usually just want to get to work.

I've driven past crumpled messes of vinyl and candy paint, romantically entwined with nondescript sedans and minivans, with Asian girls with bloody foreheads sobbing on the side of the road. Every time I read about someone's "kill" on a public street, I thank God the poster doesn't live anywhere near me. It probably doesn't help that I lost my fiancee in 2002 to a street racer.
