I looked around a bit, trying to find just a plain ol' bolt to take it's place - but the thread they put on those things is very odd, almost like a wood screw, but not quite. I just took a hacksaw to mine, and cut the stem off. However, by leaving them as is, you can still put the big plastic cover on if you want. This way when you remove it, your engine still looks good with the half covers underneath - as opposed to being embarrassed at how bad it looks with nothing there. It really is an ugly engine without any covers. It's actually why I came up with the covers in the first place. Whenever I was at the track with the hood up, I couldn't keep that heat soaking plastic cover on - and I could see the look on peoples faces when they looked at my engine without it, thinking - "eeww, that's what a Hemi looks like?"
