I just test drove an R/T with the Road/Track Performance Group!

Pretty cool. The dealer has tons of them and they are all silver. I noticed the delay/softness in the tip in but I'm sure soon Hypertech will have a way around that. I throttled it around a turn from a parking lot while I was close to the edge of the driveway sidewalk entrance on purpose. With the the traction control off the car spun out but sounded and felt like so much like the open axle cars I've driven (no posi); sigh I can't wait to see what the 2007 Mopar Performance catalog will offer for AXLES!. Nonetheless the car accelerated with authority in the highway. The salesman let me take it for a long test drive and was happy to hear about the little known secret and story behing the R/T Road/Track Performance option (essentially a Daytona is sheep's clothing).

If anyone is near Vancouver I was at Carter Dodge on Lougheed and Willingdon in Burnaby. Talk to a guy named Kevin, he was very kind to me.

I also saw an SXT there with an interior upgrade I've never seen before. The dash was full of woodgrain including the guage bezel surrounds and the intruments on the roof were surrounded with woodgrain too. The doors had woodgrain too as did the door handles. I'm not much for woodgrain but it changed the whole look of the car, almost to the point that the car seemed to look more American further distancing it from it's German roots.

I wonder if I should take a picture of the interior of that car.

He gave me a brouchure and it's packed with Daytona pics and SRT pics too; I've heard here on the forum group how hard to come by these brouchures are. I had a good day today needless to say.

Have a R/T on order w/ the PP. Wondering what the two toned racing seats looked like. Can't find any pics here of the PP ones, just the 2 toned SRT 8 seats and the Daytona seats. Dealer told me that the PP seats have a stitched Dodge emblem in the middle of the seat. Wondering if that is true and what it looks like. Also curious, just like jvs60, if you got a good comparison of the two types of exhaust from the regular R/T to the R/T PP option. I've heard it's a big difference, but I remain a bit skeptical since I've only heard it from articles and not first hand. Thanks for the info.

MoparG,

Did you get a chance to directly compare the R/T R&TPG with the normal R/T. I'm curious to know how the stiffer suspension and upgraded steering affect the overall ride. Is it a huge difference or subtle in your opinion?

No need for a pic, we have one here  Courtesy of the Spoiler Factory (Ekool, you outta hit them up to be a sponsor, they seem to be selling to dealers like hotcakes, why not market direct to the consumer:))

I really like look the upgraded seats. Guess there isn't anything stitched on the inlays though... too bad. I would have really liked to seen the Ram on there. Thanks for the pix jvs. I'm supposed to be getting mine in early August. I will be sure to post some larger shots of the seats for others that are curious like me when it comes in.

First time on these boards and I just wanted to say thx to all of the helpful people here that put up with all the trolls, you've been a big help I've learned a lot since I started reading these boards around three weeks ago.

Added:

Holy [email protected] that looks nice with the wood. Do you have a link I can follow to order the wood?

Considering I haven't driven a regular R/T (I suppose I should have but I felt I spent enough time that day there) I can't really compare However I had driven a 300C last year and I can say that the suspension feel was much better on the R/T Road Track PP edition vs the 300C. The 300C felt like my old 78 Malibu on cornering and the Charger was kick ass. The steering wasn't as razor sharp as the 95 Z28 that I used to drive but quite decent indeed on the Charger. The exhaust sounded a bit different in that whenever I spanked the throttle down on city streets (which would mean a 30-40mph downshift when the auto downshifted on it's own) the car made a bassy low end frequency sound momentarily similar to a high performance 70's muscle car when the 4bbl's carb's secondaries would open up. Being that the Charger doesn't have a carb, I can only imagine that that sound can be attributed to extraordinary amounts of air coming in all at once (which is what is in a sense going on when you crack the secondaries on a 4bbl carb; especially on those that have smaller primaries and larger secondaries). Being that it was a silver Charger, and with the power and sound, I felt I was driving a 1978 Dodge Monaco Police Pursuit vehicle. Fast and people get out of the way. I can only imagine tinted windows and a few antenna whips and you would rule the road (well not until the cops get the car I suppose where people can only imagine that this sedan is something to be scared of). It's kind of like 1970 and the 1971 coke bottle shaped Coronets/Satellites are just coming out.

I would personally order the black Charger R/T Road/Track PP option and either put a reflective mirror tint on all the 4 doors (or wait and see if there will be a chrome door trim option for the window surrounds which I don't know if it is possible as the top portion of the doors doesn't seem to ba able to accomodate any kind of trim pieces). At this point a Daytona grille would look interesting on a black car too.

The car I drove also had the sunroof but no navigation screen. The sunroof makes the car seem larger and that woodgrain bits through out the car on that SXT would make an interesting addition, however if the same areas that were covered on the that SXT (parked in the showroom which I never drove) with woodgrain were to be covered with chrome like the regular areas, that could be interesting too.

I should go back and take a picture of that interior for reference purposes.

So GLHS837, you think the kit is from the Magnum, is that an accesory kit in their Mopar Catalogue for the Magnum?

The seats, ghengisdan, had a regualar cloth section where one's but would otherwise slide (I guess Chrysler anticipates alot of cornering in such a model) and the rest is leather. I kind of like the regular R/T seats to be honest as I am used to my 94 Impala SS slick leather. Then again many thought that the seats in my car were too slippery so anyway.

yes, GLHS837, that's it. It's got more on the roof too where the compass or whatever else is up there like map lights and so forth near the windshield area. With a sunroof car it would look sweet. I'd like to see the same areas covered in chrome though.

I was told the inserts were suede, not cloth... are you positive about them being cloth, cuz I'd be a little disappointed if they were.

Yes, sorry, I shouldn't have assumed cloth. I just remember there being no leather where my but sat.

In regard to the peformance group, there is also the 10hp extra that the Daytona gets which likely includes exhaust and intake of air system modifications.

The price for the perfomance package in Canada is only CAD$950; as indicated on the window sticker!

Here you go:
Because the tires have a better speed rating than the crappy Continentals, does that mean that the road/track performance group, the speed limiter is raised from the 125? to how fast?

Hey 808 -

Some of those options listed are available on the R/T also:

The wheels on the R/T and Daytona are the same except the Daytona has black painted pockets between the spokes, both are 18's. The Regular R/T also offers these items as a part of the Covenience Group Option:

Air Conditioning w/ Dual Zone Control
Heated Front Seats
Power Front Seats
Power Adjustable Pedals

The main additions to the Daytona and the R/T with Road and Track are:

Performance Seats w/Preferred Suede
Performance Steering
Performance Suspension
Load Leveling Shocks
P235 Tires vice P225
Clearer Exhaust Path for an extra 10 horses...
