Does anyone know about any steering upgrades or mods to help with the understeer of a stock R/T? Is the 9 pin dodge system that comes with the daytone performance suspension package available as an aftermarket upgrade and how much is it??

nope, cant upgrade the steering without MAJOR work. you would have to tear the car apart. just another reason I got an R&T ;)

everything is different afaik from the rack up to the steering wheel. your looking at rack, gears, im assuming pump/hosing, wiring etc, the shaft (daytona/r&t has a 9 land i think) who knows what else.

someone else had asked some of the dealer service centers about this in the past they all just said NOPE cant/wont do it. BUT thats not to say its not possible, just not practical.

Same here, the dealer said it's impossible.

I didnt think it was a huge deal, especially since these cars are already over priced here so the R&T was way more than I wanted to pay, but now Im starting to regret not shoving out the extra 7 grand for it.

My R/T without R&T package cost me 131,00 AED... about 35,597 US Dollars. Thats without Navigation or parking assist.

Makes sense, the car has to be insured, and shipped here... pack on 3.99% interest for 6 years and you can understand why I didnt opt for the R&T.

Really regretting it though, like Musicman, I wish I had the R&T's steering.

R&T has the daytona/SRT8 style seats and if its an 07 like mine, many more differences.

same style as these but mine say R/T in them.

Ah! bucket seats! like my old eclipse!

Somehow being a big guy (like 220 pounds) I'm sort of glad I have my old regular granny seats. the steering is pretty much my only issue with my RT, everything else has been fixed or is in the process of being fixed with mods anyways.

A member sold me his old SC, it'll be here sometime this week. Like I said, almost everything my RT lacks Im working on, suspension, the ugly sliver 18 inch rims, but I drove a friend's Daytona and the steering is much better than mine. firmer, and much less sluggish. I hope that some SRT rims, hotchkis sways and Tein coilovers will do the job.

I know for a fact the suspension and sway bar can be upgraded with no prob. but i am seriously dissapointed about not being able to upgrade to a "9 land" steering according to the posts so far. Im going to ask my dealer anyways but im not too optimistic since the chargerforums have never failed me in the past.

it can be done, it is actually quite easy. i have read the manuals, talked to some dodge mechanics...everything fits the same. the only difference is the gear box that mates up to the steering column. no different hoses, pumps and the such mentioned above. the column is around 300 to 400.

it sounds more like your dealership doesn't want to mess with it.

Are you trying to make me cry? lol.

GoDaddy:
I had that same feeling. that it was something that they just didnt want to get their hands dirty with. but I wont press my luck, it would probably void something that I'll end up needing when I least expect it.
