Looking to get some insight from some other SRT owners on your rear suspension. I have an 06 with factory suspension. Lately I have noticed that the rear suspension seems bouncy to me. Granted I have not driven it much this summer and have gotten used to my wife's prius. Some bumps you don't get it but there are some that make it feel like you are bouncing. Anybody else experience this? I did the usual strut test and tried bouncing the rear end one side at a time and they feel great.

I'm starting to notice that on mine recently. I guess after 9 years and 100k miles, it's time for me to replace the struts.

While we're on the subject, my 06 SRT has a very stiff ride. I now it ahs a stiff suspension in order to handle like an SRT should, but some bumps almost jar my teeth loose.
Is this normal, or are the shocks/struts at end of life and need replaced?
I have factory size tires all around, Michelins AS/3 Sport, staggered, properly inflated; I know this could influence ride/handling.
I've done the bounce test, and the rebound seems to be normal, no excessive bounce/repetitions.
Not sure if struts act the same as shocks when they are about finished and need replaced.

No, stiff is normal. The '06 has the stiffest of all of the '06-'10 models and will rattle your fillings loose.

It's when it starts getting soft and bouncy that you need to replace the struts.

Ddaddy do you get the bouncy affect when you test each rear corner of your car? Mine test out stiff and rebound seems right. Also I did notice that my shocks in the rear were black instead of yellow. I do believe reading somewhere that they didn't use the yellow bilsteins till later years.

No. my car feels perfectly stiff when I try to bounce each corner, it's just on certain roads that the rear gets a little bouncy. I paid close attention today and realized it's only when it bounces upward that I notice it. Dips don't trigger it, only quick rises.

The rear shock on the '06 are self-leveling Nivomats, not Bilsteins.

Sounds like issues with Rebound, not compression in the springs?

If you change to the Bilstein rear shocks, the rear will be lower by 10 mm.

This will also make the body sit level to the ground since the '06 sits slightly higher in the rear due to the Nivomats.

Even when I buy a new SRT, I'm keeping this one. I have big plans in the works for her and even more when she becomes my "hobby" car. :)

I really wanted a Hellcat, but it doesn't make sense for me as a daily driver and I would need a second car. I was going to use this car as that "second" car, but a particular mod that I wanted for a long time suddenly dropped in my lap...so my plans changed.

That's real cool man.

So why do you feel hellcat is bad daily driver?

Isn't it possible to essentially make it a SRT 392 with either black key or performance pages?

But I totally get what you mean, I wish I could have 2 of them. I would have to wait until my new ones is paid off, and they may stop Making hellcats by then lol

The HC would be fine for a lot of the year, but with the crappy weather we get between late October and early April, I wouldn't want to be driving that car daily. I would also want something that is lower in low end torque for winter.

Total HP isn't the whole story especially with the HC. Sure you can use the black key, but the low end torque is huge making it a beast to try to drive in the snow and muck.

It can be done, but I'm not sure I would want to on my daily commute. The SRT 392 is more manageable in those conditions.

Yeah, my wife was telling me how bad the winters are in PA, she's from Montrose, and in that case, the upper HP and RPM ranges would be unusable without sliding and messing something up from the icy dirt spray up-splash.

In Cali, I wouldn't have that issue, the only issue I have is dealing with crazy dealers who want 35k mark up :serious:

Do think the hellcat is as usable real world day to day, like an regular 392, even in good weather?
