It makes me sad when a honda takes me offline a red stop light. I know the charger is way heavier and but it a lot more horsepower than the honda. Sucks that the torque isnt there to fully bring out the power. So I was wondering if a aftermarket torque convertor would help better the problem.

Chargers are heavy beasts that take a bit of room to get moving..once you're past 40 mph they get going pretty damn quick and will eat those Hondas for lunch.

However, I do not recommend tangling with VW GTI's...those little things are mini rocket ships that you just can't keep up with without driving recklessly.

Two words...

Rear

Gears

Bring your power band down to meet the road. Gears let you compress the HP/Tq curve down to the range that you use. You don't need a 180 mph top end, compress it down to 140 mph and get a 25% increase in torque and HP where you want it.

This may be a little late to add, but I drive a 2011 dodge charger sxt. Will a cam and rear gear still be able to be done?
The Pentastar V6 has FOUR cams, so don't bother, besides they are pretty good the way they are. The best thing to do for your V6 is buy a good cat back exhaust system, Cold Air Intake and a Diablo tuner. Anything more than that would be a waste of $$, though you could put in a rear end with 3.06 or 3.23 gears, but I would not go to all that trouble to modify a V6, I would just trade it in for an R/T. (I drive a 2013 SE with the V6 and love it the way it is).

Do it first, add cam second.

You would be surprised what a 3.92 Getrag will do for your car. The cam adds only a few ponies down low compared to what the gears will do. ;)

The Max cam adds about 60 hp total and only around 20 hp down low. The gears will give more than that across the entire band to work with.

For example, with the 6.1L engine with the stock 3.06 gears you are putting down 125 HP and 325 lb/ft Torque at 25 mph in second gear.

With the 3.92 at 25 mph you are putting down 160 HP and 360 lb/ft Torque at 25 mph in second gear.

At 50 mph, the stock set up gives you 275 HP and 375 lb/ft Torque.

At 50 mph, the 3.92 gives you 375 hp and 420 lb/ft Torque.

little to late for a rt, so ill just make the best of what I have. If I were to do gears, how would that be done or a better question is who would do it?
You have to buy a new "pumpkin" (the actual housing and gears) and new axles to match (and probably the rear bearings too). You're looking at $2 grand or more for parts/labor to have a shop install them for you.

I'd look around in a wrecking yard for a V6 Challenger with an aluminum rear end housing (most likely 3.06's).

What you think about 3.55 better every day driver?

3.55 gears are great for daily driving and track use but good luck finding any. AFIK, everyone who makes them is on backorder for years and none are out there to be found as a complete kit for install.
