I've recently purchased a Mopar T-handle shifter knob and I haven't installed it yet but all of the pictures I've seen make it look really tall. My question is, has anyone modified the length of the shifter lever? Is it even possible? And what could it hurt? I'm thinking it could be cut to a shorter length and tapped with new threads, but I could be wrong. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

That's just how it looks in pictures, I was worried about this as well before I installed mine, and especially when I first slid the t-handle shifter down it wouldn't go all the way at first so I was like "oh crap, this thing is a tower" but when I wiggled it a little it was able to slide all the way down and the bottom of the t-shifter should be almost to the console like the stock one. DO NOT mess with it or try to alter it before you install it. Once properly installed it will not sit much higher than the stock one. I'm not mechanically inclined and it took me like two minutes to do it. Word of advise though, if you want to keep the stock shifter as a spare or whatever be careful when you use a screwdriver to separate the chrome piece under the leather portion, it's pretty easy to damage and I made a few little dents when I took mine off. Good luck! I love mine, I think it adds some character and a little old school touch to the interior.

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a shot pretty soon. Hopefully I'll be able to get the same result.

No problem, and FYI I said not to try and alter it because the tightening screw is near the bottom of the t-handle, if you cut it off you will not be able to properly secure it. It will look good once you install it an you wouldn't want it any shorter if you rest your hand on the shifter when driving, like I said it pretty much sits where the stock one does height wise.
