The shaker hood on the RT Challenger looks very cool. I cannot find any difference in hp or torque for it.

Any idea if it is good for any more looks?

I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes available on the 2016 Charger. :beerchug:

I meant to ask if it is good for anything more than good looks. >:)

From what I've read, the shaker on the new challenger scat pack seems to be good for less MPGs. I'm not sure if that is everyone's experience that has one, but I have read that. As performance, I'm not too sure. I'm sure there are others that have experience with a shaker.

If there's any gains it'd be very minimal, and mostly at near triple digit speeds. Same goes for any ram air hood really.

Yep, and the Shaker won't even do that little bit. It is too low and sits too far back on the hood to get any ram air effect. The aerodynamics push the air off the nose right over it.

It's just a cool looking CAI system.

Wow! They certainly charge a lot of extra dough for it. :surprise:

Well, there's a bit more to the Shaker package than just the hood.

The new Challenger R/T Shaker adds a functional Shaker hood with cold-air induction and Mopar conical air filter to the Challenger R/T model's 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine delivering up to 375 horsepower and 410 lb.-ft. of torque. In addition the package adds hood-to-tail Satin Black Shaker graphic stripes, Shaker hood badges, black deck-lid spoiler with Parkview backup camera, "Shaker" startup screen, Satin Black fuel-filler door with heritage "FUEL" lettering, projector fog lamps, 20-inch polished aluminum satin finish wheels with black pockets and Distinctive Nappa Leather High-Performance Front Seats with Horizontal Plow-Through Accents and Embroidered SHAKER Logo.

The extra cost is for all of the look of a "Classic Mopar" in a special factory built package. Total is $3500 for the package of the standard version of the model.

Danko has a do-it-yourself kit that's a bit under that, $895.00. The site says it's for 2006-2010. The ram goes directly into the airbox. The only problem is that you have to cut your factory hood to fit it, which to me is a bit scary. But it does look badass.

You might want to check the pricing on that a bit more. The $895.00 price is for the non-sealed non-functional shaker. You have to add the manifold option and the cold air intake option to make it a true sealed ram air system, which raises the cost to around $1200+. Add in paint and installation and you're talking closer to $2000 for the complete deal. If you want the honey comb inserts to match the grille inserts it's another $300 or so, so it's very pricey for the full functioning package.
