I was wondering what everyones opinion is of the dealership rustproofing and undercoating. Do you think it is worth doing and if so do you think it is better at the dealership or aftermarket? Keep in mind that I live in Northern Wisconsin....salted roads are a pain!

My Daytona just got built today so I need to make a decision about this very soon.

It does help somewhat. Make sure it is done right. Don't let them charge you more than $100 either. Some techs rush the job and get the stuff all over the place.Make sure you check the whole car after you have it done, because there will be overspray no doubt about it. Make sure the dealer cleans it thoroughly.

Not a good idea.

If I'm not mistaken, we have a 100,000 mile guarantee against rust with our cars. Look at web sites like Edmunds, Consumer Guide and others, and they will all tell you that these add-on dealer protection packages are a waste of money.

The rustproofing gave me a lifetime guarantee against anything rusting.

I also got the paint and interior protection. If anything inside gets stained and can't be cleaned, it will be replaced...and, if the paint has any problems (discoloration, chipping, etc.) it gets fixed.

I used to sell Chrylser Plymotuh Doge Jeep Eagle - - am I dating myself??? We used to get $1495 for our protection package for Paint protection (wax bullsh*t), fabric (scotchguard spray), rustproofing and undercoating... total coast to dealer with my shop's laboe included, was $145. without the labor it was $45... get it done aftermarket unless dealer can give you a good deal... Rustproofing is good - - you are really buying an extended warranty more than anything else... Undercoating is nice because it helps t okeep the cabin quieter as well... the rest is BS....
