I'm going to be installing new speakers on the rear deck this weekend and was
hoping someone knew how to remove the rear seat side bolsters. I know about
the nut to remove the bottom portion, but how do you get to the clip that holds
the top in place? Thanks in advance for any help.

I had an extra set to look at to figure out that clip.

Take a screwdriver or a butter knife (something long, strong and thin) and slide it down from the top until it hits a little tab... You need to press that down while you are pulling the bolster out. It'll take a few times, but by pushing down on the tab, you're unlatching it, and the pulling out is needed to make sure you get it out before your knife/screwdriver slips and it snaps back.

It'll take some work, but it'll work.

One more question, do you pull up on the bolster or out?

Straight out. The clip slides into the slot, straight in.
