Hi all

i have a RAK 6 disc changer radio on my 06 Charger installed.

normally when you have a radio station which send out a RDS signal, you have:

- the name of the radio station on the display
- the name of the song title etc.

and if you travel around, the RDS radio station looks always for the best frequency in that area where you are at the moment.....that means it autosearches the best frequency for the choosen radio station....correct????

Here in europe its work how i have subscribed it above....is it the same in the states?? Cause my RAK doenst move to the next best frequency, but it shows the name of the station and all additional infos

is there aswell no possability to set it to a traffic message channel? we have that aswell normally here :smoke:

please let me know
sorry for my poor english, i hope you can understand what i am asking for

Greetings from switzerland

I can't speak for European systems but I've never actually seen a North American radio auto-seek a station of a certain genre. I have no idea how it works. So far, all I've seen RDS do is broadcast station information (station name, slogan, song name and performer, etc.) but I've never actually seen a radio seek out a station that was broadcasting itself as a certain genre.

Thanks Steve

i guess i have to accept it that my radio doesnt have to autoscan for frequenzys and traffic channels....

here in switzerland, you can set your radio to traffic mode, and the radio is looking in the background for a channel which provides you with traffic messages during you are listening CD`s

Not saying it doesn't do it... it might not actually do it, but I just don't know either way.

My Marauders' radios had this feature, I think... but there were no stations that seemed to cater to this function because I don't recall it really being able to seek out specific styles. Again, maybe I just wasn't doing it right.

Anyway, recently I've noticed our "classic and modern rock" station has begun displaying "Adult Hits" below the station call letters on my Charger's NAV screen. Maybe the local stations have just taken a bit longer to roll out this functionality?

(side note: anytime I see "Adult Hits" I keep imagining it being a station that continuously plays the soundtracks to pornographic movies...)

is it possible that this RAK radio only "knows (find)" stations like 95.3 or 95.5 95.7....never stations with 102.8 or 103.2 or 98.6?????

only frequencys with .1 .3 .5 .7 .9 never .2 .4 .6 .8 .0 :(

strange thing...maybe i should kick it away....hehehe ;)

has anybody the same problem?

U.S. Radio's only tune odd numbers. Don't know if there's a flash available so it will also tune even numbers.

European stations operate in .1 MHz increments for center frequencies. If you bought your radio from the US/Canada, then you cannot expect it to handle any center frequencies other than those with odd "tenths" of MHz, as here the frequencies are spread by .2 MHz and only centered on the odd tenths.

You can check with your local dealer to see if there is a modification that can be done (via Starscan or other similar firmware changing) to get the radio behaving as a European unit but if not, you're stuck with it.

My car radio doesn't work properly here in Europe.

Does anybody know if there's any way to fix that problem?

I've read this for Kenwood systems:
To transform it to the European system, you should turn it off, press1+5+SRC until it will turn on again. And that does the job.
I'm gonna try. Nothing to lose...
