interested in models and prices you've paid.

I've been a Bel man since I was in high school and only been pulled over (3 time in 20 + years of owning one of their products) when I tuned out what the little bugger was telling me.

X 6! V-1 is the only way to go, it saved me many times over just this past weekend, let alone all the times before. I70 in IL looked like a gauntlet with packs every couple of miles....lol! They can ne gotten either on ebay or at http://www.valentine1.com. If you got the ebay route make sure you get the serial number from the person selling it and verify it is up to date at the V-1 site!

Good luck!

Definitely V-1,bought my first one in 1998 and it was amazing.Saying it saved my wife and I dozens of times is not an understatement,we're also talking laser not just radar.
About 2 months ago I sent my detector back for update.Within 6 days I had a brand new V-1 in my hands. Not just my old one after changing internals.
This new V-1 is even more sensitive then the older one especially on Ka band.
Besides once you have the arrows you'll wonder why you didn't pick up one of these babies earlier.
Mike Valentine was the founder of the original Escort/Passport detectors back when he worked for Cincinatti Microwave. The original Passport circa 1989 was also a very good detector, but no arrows.

I have had a V1 and a 8500 X50. Both are great and will save you the purchase price ten fold in no time.

I currently run an X50. Ebay $250 w/shipping. I never really got the arrow thing, when the whistle blows I'm stomping on the brakes not looking at which direction the arrow is pointing. That isn't to say the V1 isn't just as good as the X50 because both have saved me hundreds of times.

The 9500i might be worth while as well, looks like it trains itself to not report false alarms buy using GPS location. The problem is you'll find a few dedicated coppers hanging out at these locations.

There is also the jammer route if you have $800 to drop... I tested one with a State Trooper buddy and he couldn't see me on KA or with a laser. Of course if they find the little bugger in your car your phucked so you might want a dector to boot. That would help you avoid rolling thru a trap at triple digit pace which is a definate trip to the local impound followed by a strip search!

best bang for the buck I think is the passport 7500. Will run you less then the 8500, and has almost all the same features. I have been saved at least 20 times in the last couple years by it. It has great range. Of course, the valentine one is the best, but for a tighter budget, the 7500 works great.

I was looking at the V1 as well, but it says that window tint really affects the performance....I know its probably hard to tell, but has anyone had their window tint affect the performance that much??? I have 20% tint on all windows except the windshield.....
