I was driving home from DC when a 911 turbo porsche pulled up next to me and wanted to race. I decided to try, even if he would beat me. I was going around 80mph when we hit it and i only went down to 3rd gear, he pulled on me about a car and a half and then i started to catch back up. I was able to get as close as a car behind him at about 165 or so. He was amazed that i was able to keep up with him, i was amazed that i was able to stay that close to him too. This was at 3:30 am, so there was no one on the road.

80 mph is the perfect spot to roll-on with a stock SRT8. Nice one.

Hmmmmmmmm - Do you guys smell that? I call Shenanigans.

No way dude, not even in the SRT8. You see, I've unfortunately raced one, so I know what they got. Even though you have 50 (or so) more horse than I have (Sublime), our power to weight ratio just doesnt add up to be racing cars with 550+ horse and weigh 1000 pounds less. Shenanigans.

I'm not one to raise the BS flag I'm having a hard time believing:

1) You ran to 165
2) You were close enough to him at 120 that you kept your foot in it
3) At 150 he wasn't 2 football fields ahead of you

I've been in an 04 911 Turbo & they pull like freight trains at any speed. I know my SRT wouldn't stand a chance, I don't understand how yours did.

More power to you if you hung with the 6 figure german.

The difference between the SRT8 and the Daytona at speeds over 100mph is large. You can not use your experience in a Daytona and extrapolate that out to a SRT8.

That being said, I agree with you that if a SRT8 hung with a 997 Porsche Turbo the guy either couldn't drive or wasn't really trying. Now if it was an older Turbo then that is a different story.

I was going to reply to all the doubters, but what's the use. These are the same people who like to BENCH RACE or ask "what if...?" instead of "guess what...!"

Screw them. They're always right OR at least read somewhere that they are.

Just about anything is possible in the real world.

This one is just a little harder than most so it causes one to wonder.

What year turbo was it?

1986 Porsche 911 Turbo 5.0 13.4

1989 Porsche 911 Turbo 5.1 13.6

1993 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 4.4 12.7

1996 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.7 12.1
1997 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.7 12.3
1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S 3.6 11.9

2001 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.9 12.3

I have to agree with Mccaesar.
911's are all over the board performance wise, depending on the year of manufacture.

Sounds like you probably pulled on a late 80's turd to me. Either that or it was a poser throwing turbo emblams on his N/T 911.

Cough: R/T with an SRT hood and emblams Cough.....
