I've had my car for 3 yrs and it has over 55k miles. Recently my car has been doing something really weird. The oil light will come on and then my car will just shut off. This happens when I'm at a red light, or just doing like 20mph on the street. It also happens on the interstate when I'm doing like 60mph, but the car will only pause for like half a second and then it will continue working. It doesn't happen all the time.... I'd say 4 times in the last 2 weeks. My car is currently at the dealership and they're saying that they don't know what's causing the problem. They've put my car on the diagnostic machine, but they can't find anything wrong. They've also tried to duplicate the problem, but no luck there either. However, the same thing happened to me this morning. I'm up to date on my oil changes, so that can't be the problem. Can anyone lend any advice. I'm supposed to be driving out of town for the holidays, but I don't want to put my car on the road while it's acting like this.

Thanks in advance!

Have they checked the oil pressure sensor yet??? On a 5.7L HEMI it is a 5 Volt type sensor, so if it were leaking it could potentially short the 5V supply out, which most of the engine sensors work off, like the cam and crank sensors, which could cause a stalling. Just disconnect the sensor and see if there's oil in the connector. The oil light coming on is a result of it leaking. It has three wires going to it.

I would also suspect the oil pressure sensor first. It doesn't have to be leaking oil to be bad. It could just have an intermittent electrical problem (which may be the connector). I think when the ECM detects low oil pressure it shuts off the engine to protect it from damage so that may be why the engine is stalling.

Not on a Chrysler product. GM did this with the fuel pump circuit. Disconnecting it will set a code, and the MDS would be deactivated. It doesn't have to be leaking to be bad, but all of the ones I've done so far leak through the connector, wether it's the 3 wire 5V sensor I previously mentioned, or the single wire green connector Oil Pressure Switch (Transducer) used on V6 models.

Hey sorry to bring back this old thread but my car has been facing the same issue recently did you get your issue resolved? If so what parts did you need to change?

It was 15 years ago bro... thread necromancer!

Does this happen after you fill up the gas tank? There was a recall on the 2006 Charger (and some other LX cars) that the float in the pump was bad IIRC. I had mine replaced under warranty probably in 2012-13 or so.

I’m dealing with this stalling issue on my 06 RT charger right now. So far the only way I can reliably duplicate it is by moving the pcm around. When it sits down by the firewall where it’s supposed to sit it stalls all the time but if I pull it out of there and just let it sit off to the side it runs perfectly so I’m thinking a stretched pin in one of the pcm connectors. I’m planning on investigating that theory tomorrow.

Also there is an unlimited time/miles warranty on the fuel tank for the 2006 model so you can go to any dealer and tell them it stalls after refueling and they’ll replace it free

There was a common problem with a bad pin connection in the PCMs. Apparently it was a Dodge problem. Supposedly an aftermarket PCM fixed most people's problem.
I have a 2007 V6 that is doing the same thing. Runs good most of the time. But, you can tell its misfiring. Dies at stop lights and when you first put it into gear sometimes. Tried a lot of things and nothing has made a difference. Supposedly the crank sensor is a known issue. Didnt help me though. Ran great until I idled the car for 30+minutes in a parking lot. Had the issue ever since. I feel your pain.
Had a shop check mine and they told me bank 1 cylinders were misfiring. The one thing that could cause that is a bad catalytic converter. No misfire codes though. Need to check back pressure. Or remove the Bank 1 Sensor 1 O2 sensor and see what happens.
