I have a question for all the men/women in blue who frequent this forum. First: Thanks for putting it on the line for us and keeping us safe out there. Ok, now for the question: For those of you who drive Charger Police cars (or Chargers for personal use), are you more/less/not inclined to give any special treatment to all the lead footed Charger drivers out there? :) Say you see a guy in a really loud fart can civic who happens to be doing, oh say, 85 in a 70 zone. He gets a ticket. Two hours later, you see a guy in an SRT-8 or an RT doing the same thing. Does he get a ticket too, or maybe just a warning? :)

Depends on attitude, traffic flow speed and if his/her car is way cooler than mine:eek:

Ive been stopped about 8 times already, I only got 1 ticket out of it, I was once stopped for doing 140 in an 80 zone and the guy just laughed it off, oh and I took off from the last light in the city before the hiway and left rubber through 2 gears with a ghost car behind me(doh) he just flashed the lights at me then passed and gave a thumbs up LOL.

As long as you look like a clean cut blue eyed working man who is having some honest fun and you dont punk with them your fine.

Your gonna pay a few here and there, but you DID break the law so.... what do you expect lol.

I haven't written a Charger yet... But then again, if you're cool enough to buy a Charger, then you're probably cool enough to let me let ya' slide...

Not to high jack this thread to badley, but since this thread is asking advice from our friends in law enforcment i thought i would ask.

I saw a CA highway patrol on a motorcycle in the far left side (fast lane - car pool lane) of the freeway on 280 in northern CA today and he was agianst the concrete barrier using his radar gun. Is this legal, can radar be used from the side of the freeway like this. It does not seem fair.

Thanks

Whoa there, DB. Just becuase its a fast 4 cylinder, its a ricer, to be cited for any infraction, while you let Chargers go? Bias much? I completey understand hammering folks who drive like jackasses, but that should anyone who drives a certain way, not just your seemingly narrow definition of "ricer".

The original post had to with getting and recieving respect from another kind of car, no stupid driving, nothing dangerous. Sorry if this bugs you. but I like my law enforcement evenhanded, not filtered by preconceptions.

You know, when the younger (remember, I'm 40) SRT owners ***** about being "targeted" by LEOs, I've always been the first one to tell them to get over it, its just a cop doing his job. Evidently, I was wrong.

Behavior, not type of car, should determine who gets pulled over.

I know this is off topic and I'll shut up now.

your post to me in a way in disturbing that your a law enforcement officer and it sounds like u have a bone to pick with anyone who u consider a "ricer"... i had an integra gsr with engine swap alot done and took it to the track im also 26 btw and have the srt4 now and have been pulled over i would say more than 30 times and well right now my driving record is got 0 points on it and ive fought so many tickets... i got pulled over once in my interga by a prejudice cop before and he ****ed around with me for an hour telling me to put my hands on his car then when i did hes say "i didnt say get my car dirty u street racer...? i was goin the speed limit just cruising coming home from work... said i have this big fartcan exhaust and my car looks like a street racers car... 50 state legal exhaust and carb eo #'s marked clearly under the hood and he wrote me up for my cam gears showing... they werent adjustable.. and i was having to recite the cvc's he wrote on the ticket saying he must be unsure because they dont apply to my car... so i pleaded this all to the judge and fought it and the cop didnt show to court.. he even busted out a book to show me a honda engine and the things hes supposed to check i knew twice as much as him.. so point is you can pull all these guys over u want but some of them such as me will fight back in court and win and make you look like a fool... i have about 3 friends who are cops too and they roll their eyes when they here about cops like that.. they both have souped up not even legal camaro ls1's is the funny part..
Since this thread, I started to cite Chargers for violation just as frequently as the next vehicle. In fact there is an SRT in the area with pitch black tint.

I give breaks when I give them and write hard citations when I write them. Depends upon my mood and call volumn.

I would guess that they can run radar anywhere they please...there are no "rules of engagement" in this game......:nervous s

In Canada the cops are running into issues with giving tickets, since its against the law to "entrap" there are some powerfull people fighting the cops saying that hiding cars behind signs and "ghost cars" are entrapment.

Just remember that while cops seem to have all the power, they really have none, if they cross the line over what is allowed and what its open season, everybody wants to take down cops, and the media want nothing more then corrupt cop stories. Ive never had to draw down with any of them, but I have a few friends that a couple cops "singled out" and ended up losing their jobs over it.

If I break the law and you nail me fine, ill pay, if you try any bs I wont stop until your done... period. And the more people that have that attitude the better the world would be.

In my experience, LOL, most police officers are cool as hell provided you are not an idiot and a jackass towards them. They do a job that many people wouldn't do for any amount of money and risk their lives every day. That deserves my respect and most of them appreciate it. As a millitary member I can relate. Some people hate us just because we're military not realizing what we do and go through in our profession. Thank all of you in law enforcement and thank you for what you do every day!

I think it'd be a bit ****y to expect special treatment, that said I'd try my best to behave the same as I would if I was driving a 1982 Ford Fiesta or whatever, and hope that all went well.

*knocks on wood and all*

The ricer's annoying sound out of the garbage can sized exhaust would annoy me more than the speeding part.:D

FWIW I've seen ricer 300s, magnums, and chargers - unfortunately we're not exempt - one day I saw a black magnum 2.7 go by with chrome 22s, blacked out windows, a DUB banner on their windshield, and the worst fart can exhaust I've heard in a long time.

What's the world coming to :( Can we even consider that a Charger??

Well I wouldn't stop somebody for the speed that was mentioned (85/70...15 over) but the Highway speed limit here in Atlanta is 55. I generally don't stop cars until they hit 85/55.

As far as what kind of car, it doesn't make a difference. It's the same thing with whether I'm stopping a hottie or a nottie (my old chief, a wise old guy once told me, "Son, just remember, that badge can get you p****, but that p**** can always take your badge"), a rich guy or a poor guy. There's no way I would treat them different. I know it happens but I think it's a shame when different sexes, different races or different income levels get treated differently. I have a reputation (a good one) in my department because I've locked up several celebrities and didn't let 'em go because of who they are. They were treated the same, and fairly, as everybody else.

Attitude goes a long way, as does honesty.
