So I posted prior about the banging noise constantly with rpms idle or driving. The engine is being replaced. I have the new one. 1 question is what oil initially to break in. Conventional. But which?

And im seeing 1000 diff procedures. My mechanic has his own, 20 mins at 2500 rpms initial start. Idk whats right or wrong. I've read it drive it like you stole it, but that doesn't sit well with me..

Got from gearhead engines. 5yr warranty. 1 time no fault replacement. New gaskets, oil pan, water pump, oil pump, alternator, intake manifold, plugs, dipstick, coil packs, etc.

Will post more pics in coming 2 weeks as its done.

As you have observed, everyone has a different opinion on new engine break-in procedure. However, the only opinion that really matters for you is the opinion of the manufacturer or remanufacturer of that engine. That "particular" engine, to be clear. If it was me I'd be reading all the documentation that came with that engine or asking specific questions to the customer support people of that company. (Gearhead Engines)

Good luck with the install.
