Is there a de facto standard on how to fill the ACES IV in the gas tank?

Last time I did it ACES IV first, then filled up. Seemed like the car picked up on this right away.

This time, I filled up first (completely) and then filled the ACES IV. This time the car seemed to lose pep right away, pulling out of the gas station and driving home. How's that possible...does the computer pick up on the gas octane/quality that quickly?

I use the same Chevron gas station I always use. Also, I'm on my 3rd treatment. First treatment didn't seem that much different (added ACES IV after gas fillup), the 2nd treatment I added CAI, exhaust and Johan tune (he was informed of ACES IV). Car felt really powerful.

I think I remember Brian saying It doesn't matter. I've done it both ways.

However, it would make sense that if you filled up without adding Aces the fuel would get diluted. If you drove this way for a bit before adding Aces to that fresh tank of gas you might notice a slight difference.

That's normal when you first start using it. After you've used it for a while, it won't matter which way you do it. Trust me, I've used it for over 50k miles and I've tried every combo possible.

It has a lot to do with the residual lubricant in the cylinders. You haven't used it long enough for it to smooth things out so that it won't matter how you add it. I stopped adding it before filling when I had all the pumps fail on me at a gas station due to a computer glitch when only halfway through adding fuel. The car wasn't happy about running on double aces for the few miles until I got to another station.

I've always added first and that seems fine. It seems more volatile than fuel I figured I would get the best mix that way.

Sorry that this is unrelated but since you guys have experience with ACES IV, should I use it on my RT? Because here in my country gas is very cheap and I personally use 98 Octane fuel, so will adding ACES IV increase my performance? Thanks.

Next time I'll try adding the aces first and then fill up to see if that makes a difference. Should have mixed in by now, might do some spirited driving on the way home and maybe some datalogging tonight.

The ACES IV would make a big difference in your 98 octane RON fuels.

Detergency, ignition improving and lubricity.

Since it is a catalyst, it will catalyze the fuel in 20 seconds once it hits the fuel so mixing really isn't necessary. Kinda like epoxy glue or concrete.....it will react with or without air. Same situation with ACES IV. :beerchug:

So you are saying that ACES is reacting components that are already in the fuel? Or is ACES a catalyst and a substrate that are then reacted with the fuel as the second substrate? You had me thinking that any catalyzed reaction is occurring during combustion.

I'm getting closer to my gas chromatography equipment...

Yes, the ACES IV will react to the fuel and promote molecular balancing of the fuel....heterogeneous.

It reacts with heat in the tank for lubricating the fuel pump, then medium temperature reaction in the heat of the injectors, and then high heat lubricity for cylinders and bores.

The best way to describe it is that we have proprietary catalysts that allow us to blend different chemicals with specific properties into one blend without unintended consequences or dropping out. These catalysts act as “unifiners” of the various chemicals into a viscosity with a specific gravity between 0.850 to 0.950. This individual characteristic allows the addition of any type of feature required into one balanced combustion formulation. This goes for gasoline, diesel, alcohol, nitromethane and E85.

Upon contact with the fuel, several things take place: The deposit reducing compounds work together with antioxidants to balance the fuel and dissolve deposits and insoluables, and balance the fuel in the tank as I said.

The dispersant compounds suspend particles while corrosion and rust inhibitors prevent water from affecting metals or other fuel system components by forming a protective film on the metals. This is important for not only the fuel tank, but the whole fuel system and cylinder components including injectors and fuel rails.:bigthumb:

I am still surprised the computer was able to react that quickly to a fresh tank of gas without the ACES IV. Even more surprising is that it was with Chevron, which is supposed to be one of the higher quality gases.

Thanks for the info brian! Im actually living in United Arab Emirates, i was only concerned that this product might not react well to high octane fuel and eventually damage the engine, thanks for the clarification :grin2:

Glad to know that you found a way that works best for your car.

I have been adding ACES IV to my fuels after for many years. I always suggest using Shell, Marathon or BP Amoco....NOT BP only. However, Chevron has techron which is an oxygenate being an ether based product. Works great with ACES IV!:beerchug:
