Well, I have decided to CANCEL my protection package today.

I`m going down to the dealership in about an hour.

I was told today by DCX that ALL Chargers with the protection package, that were ordered in July, are now scheduled to be produced IN EARLY OCTOBER!

They have a FULL allotment of orders for August and September!

I wonder how much this will speed up my order? :wink:

My dealer calledthem today and was told the hold up was the pp, so he reordered without it. Hopefully I will have a VIN by thr end of the week.

I truely don't want to make anyone feel bad, but personally I feel so GOOOOD. My order was place about a week and half ago 7-27-05. I went to D-1 (gateline assembly) already. Last week they told me "NO WAY YOUR GONNA MAKE THE AUGUST BUILD - MAYBE SEPTEMBER" but they already have a tentative ship date of 8-27-05. This is without PP.

It sad to say that an option that is strictly for safety reasons is the one bad egg in the lot and is having such problems. However that being said, I personally have begun wondering why I was dead set on having it. I know the wife wanted it because of the "to protect the kids" thinking. However, her car doesn't have it and she and kids drive around in hers more than they do mine. The same will probably be true for this new car after the "newness" wanes. Therefore I am not unhappy that my dealer pushed ahead and removed all PPs from their orders to get them moving.

Well, I did it too this afternoon. My dealer, who was pretty certain a few weeks ago that it was released for September builds, now thinks that the only way to not only get my Charger built but also to make sure it's not suspiciously cancelled is to do it without the Protection Group. So now I've dropped the Protection Group.

Hopefully I'm still in time for September's build scheduling. Dealer thinks yes, I'm not so sure.

My understanding is that they schedule builds out 1 month in advance. So the first week of August they schedule all of the cars to be built in September, the first week of September they schedule all of October, etc. I just don't want to miss Sept's build and have to wait another whole month.

I too am stuck in the dreaded BG wasteland due to the protection package...has anyone at all that has ordered the protection package seen any change in status??? I know the rumor is that they will start up in September, but on this and the 3 other forums I frequently watch, I have never heard one person actually say that there vehicle was actually scheduled for September and seen the status change out of BG. Anyone??? I am getting impatient with this dang option!

I looked at the crash test ratings for the 300C, because the 06 are not showing yet.It shows the following: Front driver & pass 5 star, side crash: front 4 star, back seat 5 star. And roll over 4 star. Now, is this with or without the "optional air bags" because if it is without, I really don't see a reason to have to wait an extra few months if the car is already this safe.

Don't base your decision on my hunches, but I would guess that the safety ratings were without the optional air bags. It would make sense to give a rating for the "normal" build of a given car and that any extra protection options would just add to that rating. So if a car with extra bags was rated 5, how could you claim that all of their cars were that rating when most do not have the bags? Simple logic to me.

If someone can find out, I am sure that folks here would appreciate the info.

Gee, I feel horible now. I am brand new to this forum to see what others are doing/going thru. I ordered my Charger R/T at the dealership on Tuesday, July 5. Order was submitted the next day. Build sheet that is in the computer with all of my information says order placed on the 12th. As of this day, still no VIN!! I didn't order the PP and I am dying!!!! :monster:

Just checked with DCX Customer service and my Charger RT (sans Protection Group) has moved from BG to BX status (again). Hopefully this means I'll actually get scheduled for September (DCX rep said cars move from BX to D all month long, not just at the beginning of the month as we were led to believe).

Remember if you really want the PP pack have your dealer do a National search. They can always get what you want from another dealer. I know that there is a Magnesium R/T with the protection package at Cherry Point Dodge in North Carolina. It has the Daytona seats w/out the Daytona tags, Michelin Run Flats different exhaust all that the Daytona has w/out the rear spoiler. And it is only listed for $34,440. Just got off the phone with the owner and He said anyone wants more info go to his web page at http://www.prod-fivestardealers.com/cherry/Dodge/?adid=11208871&pid=15395621&rid=u&bid=null give him a call he is also going to have a Daytona next week.

I looked at Cherry Point Dodge and the window sticker does not show the protection package. It does show the Road and Track option which I have not seen on a window sticker price sheet yet.

ANTMAG06, sorry, but you have mistaken what option folks here are talking about. PP is for the "Protection Package" which for side-curtain airbags, self sealing tires, etc. We were not talking about the Road & Track Performance Group. Thanks for the info though, it was nice to actually see a sticker showing the R&TPG on it.

Yup you are correct. I got confused because the road and track pack does have the run flat tires. Sorry guys. You should all really cal lthis guy though he has an awsome inventory and it is going to get better. Some how for this small little town we are in he has 3 Daytonas on the way.
