AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 will start at $35,995, which includes a destination charge of $675.
The Charger SRT8 will be powered by a 6.1-liter Hemi V8, which produces 425 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, helping the car to achieve a 0-to-60-mph time in the low-5-second range.
The SRT8's power plant differs from that of the 5.7-liter Charger engine with its reinforced engine block, forged-steel crankshaft and high-strength connecting rods.
Other unique features to the vehicle include large-diameter anti-sway bars, Bilstein dampers, Brembo four-piston disc brakes, and 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels. Special styling cues in the SRT8 theme include performance-trimmed sculpted seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, a unique front fascia with cooling ducts, a hood scoop, dual 3.5-inch exhaust tips, and a rear-mounted spoiler.
What this means to you: If you like the Charger's aggressive styling but find its standard 5.7-liter Hemi too soft for your tastes, the SRT version should have all the power you need.
