Alternator just went out on my Daytona. No idea what a decent price is to get it replaced. Shop I have used in the past quoted me $400 for a reman remy alternator with labor and 1yr warranty. These alternators appear to be remanufactured, Doesnt this seem on the high side?

Seems like the going rate to have a shop replace an alternator. However, last week we pulled my buddies out and had his rebuilt for $65.00 as apposed to a store bought reman for $135.00. Same warranty and quick turn around, dropped off in morning and ready that afternoon. He told me the shop wanted $500.00 to replace his alternator (not sure if the $65 for a tow was included in that price).

Well, for new, this seems like the best bet. Not a hard job, I dont think. This one, you get a lifetime warranty. You go with the Bosch or Denso, your are paying considerably more and only getting a 2 year warranty.

Remanufactured alternators can range from $50-200 depending on company and warranty.

Bosch alternators are at the high end but carry the longest warranty.

Labor should be about 1 hour (figure $75-125/hr depending on the shop).

Your range should be from $125-325 depending on the part you choose and the shop you choose.

OEM new parts will be higher ($300-400) but the labor hours are the same. New OEM parts may also carry a longer warranty.

Where does it say lifetime warranty? I looked and can't find it. I only see a 1 year limited warranty for this part.

Roll over, but do not click on the Warranty Details to the right of the Part Number. Says "Limited Lifetime Replacement".
