If anybody is running 245/40/20 all the way around on their 20 inch rims please post me a picture so I can see how it looks. I was planning on going 245/45 for my new rims like its recommended but got a great deal on some Falken 452s which only come in 245/40 or 255/45. I know the 245/40 will be a shorter tire in height compared to my stock R/T tires so I'm worried it won't look right and the gap will look even bigger. I can fix it in the future by lowering but dont want to spend all this money on tires I won't be happy with. If anybody has any pictures or opinions, let me know thanks.

245/40/20

I also got an awesome deal on a package that came with this tire size. I'm happy with the look and more important feel and performance. With that said...I'm planning on dropping it down an inch or two.

Actually, the 275/40's ARE the correct size.
The 245/45's are too tall.

According to the tire size calculator

225/60/18(stock) =28.62 overall diameter, speedo=60 (actual speed)

275/40/20 (best) =28.66 overall diameter, speedo=59.9 (60 actual speed)

275/45/20 (wrong)=29.74 overall diameter, speedo=57.7 (60 actual speed)

Stick with the 274/40's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, 245's not 275's......:knockout: My bad

Awesome pictures, exactly the pictures I was looking for thanks a lot man. That tire set up looks great so Ima go ahead and go for it. The black rims on your red daytona look sick man, love it. I got black rims too going on my black charger, I plan on lowering with the eibach pro kit as well.

And thanks RTracer for confirming the tire heights. So the 245/40/20 really is the closest to stock 18s height so I won't have to worry about the speedo getting messed up. Thats good news.

No, I messed up...I was using 275's vs your width of 245's

Let me try again with 245's vs the 275's I did in my original post

225/60/18 =28.62"
245.45/20 =28.68"
245/40/20 =27.71

With the 245/40's you'll be off by almost a full inch.(smaller)

At 60mph, your speedo will read 61.9 with the 245/40's. Which also will make your miles rack up quicker

With the 245/45's you'll only be off by 2/10th of a MPH

Oh snap, so it would actually be an inch shorter than stock, wow maybe that won't be a good thing, would you recommend against it? I found out the Falkens also come in 255/45/20 so maybe that would be a better option, i would just have to pay a little more, what you guys think? I'm definetely no tire expert

Maybe its because I started with a Daytona and my stock tires were 235/55/18 but I got different numbers. The calculator that I used (1010 tires) shows a 1.64% difference from stock to the 245/40/20, a 1.71% difference with the 275/40/20, versus the 245/45/20 which gives a 1.78% different from stock. They are all well within the realm of working anything within 3% + or - of your stock size is supposed to be a good size match.

My next tires will be the Falken 255/45/20s. I don't want wider than 255 on the front due to clearance issues, but I still want to be able to rotate.

Just got off the phone with tirerack and they say the widest they recommend are 245/45/20's in the front, 255/45/20's in the back. I told them I've seen that people have had no trouble with 255/45/20's all way round, even 275/40/20's all way round and he didn't seem to believe me.

Now I'm confused. I've been having trouble finding an all season tire that goes up to 275/40/20, but I do like the look from pics I've seen. I was thinking of settling for 255/45/20's all way round so that I can have a few more choices of tires (e.g. Toyo proxes 4 maybe).

But now they say they don't even recommend 255/45/20's all way round!

Man, this is making my head hurt.

Anyone have any thoughts on Toyo Proxes 4's for all weather, and anyone have a comment on whether 275/40/20's would work without problems, or whether 255/45/20's would work without problems? Any other all-weather recommendations?

The Tire Rack likes to stay on the very safe side of things ...they generally won't reccomend a size that might be even remotely close to not fitting ...

When it comes time for me to get tires, I'll most likely do 255/45R20's all around .... slim chance I might actually go staggered in which case I'd do 245/45R20 in front and 275/40R20 in the rear

In the 255/45R20 size, as an alternative to the Proxes 4, I'd highly reccomend the Toyo Proxes S/T:

Or there's also the Yokohama Parada Spec-X:

255/45R20's are perfect! My speedo is about 3 mph slower than actual speed at 60 mph. Good ride, fills the gap nicely. Here's a pic:

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking the ST's were more of an SUV tire, or might not have been as good all weather, but I have seen Charger folks talking about the ST's. I'll take a better look at the Yokohama's. So, you yourself do not think 275/40/20's all round would be best (particularly in the front)? I'm thinking from a potential fit standpoint, availability of manufacturers of all weather tires standpoint I may stick with the 255's, but not quite sure yet.

Well, generally, in the winter you want a narrower tire so that it can slice through the snow better, so 255's all around would be a better choice if you're gonna encounter snow ...

Yeah, that does look really good. Now I'm questioning my rim choice :)

Looks like you have the Yokohama's gpwebman is recommending too. I like the looks of them. And to gpwebman's comment, I think I'm going to stay away from 275 as well. Traction is bad enough with RWD in the winter, I don't need to make myself any worse of a souped up toboggan!

Thanks for the input.

One other question, for the Parada Spec-X's on TireRack , I'm seeing 255/45VR20, rather than 255/45R20. I know what R is supposed to mean, and what V is supposed to mean, but what is it when it is VR? Is this essentially the same as the 255/45R20's, or is there a significant difference?

Heres my new rims I just put on, I did end up going with the 245/40/20 Falken 452s all the way around and I do like it, I like the lower profile look and think it will look awesome once it is lowered

Thoughts on why you mentioned the Yokohama Parada Spec-X and not the AVID H4S? The AVID H4S are listed as high-performance all-season, and the Parada's as street/sport truck off-season, both seem to have about the same winter ratings.
