I see a few posts of people who say thier car is number XXX of 4000 or something.

I've also read the post about how the Last numbers on the Vin are random, so as not to be duplicated..

How do you know what number your car is ?

Thanks in advance.

The XXXX of 4000 is the Daytona series but the random numbers in the vin don't sound right since the vin basically tells you what the car is and what unit number it is compared to the rest of the MY run.....IIRC. But I could be wrong.

Hey Tricster, xxxx of 4000 is for the Daytona
You should have a von from your dealer, which will become a vin as the process goes along :)

From what I understand, you are halfway correct. The first 11 digits in the vin #explain properties of the car, model, options, color, etc... The last 6 digits are commonly referred to as your Serial Number and they are not exactly random but not formallized either and are never duplicated with the same first 11 digits.
