Hi all, I called Chrysler this morning for an update on my Daytona. The person on the phone said I have an est. ship date of 8/15 and that the car is "going down the line right now", so I asked does that mean is it in D2 status, she said "there is no D2 status the next step is KZ".? I have been reading a lot about cars being in D2, What gives???????????

Let see:

  • Another example of DCX CIC reps pulling it out of their a.....
  • If your car is "going down the line right now" it is beyond D (D1 and D2 I assume are plant codes and are probably not reported to the reps).
  • They just may be right for once... KZ means the plant released and invoiced the car. That most definitely is the next step you want.

I've got an estimated ship date of 8-13, and mine is still "D1" status.

 Hmmm, starting to sound familiar...ordered mine 7/9/05 and have D1 status with ship date of 8/15 with 5 day transit time to VA dealer...makes you wonder why DC doesn't put up a website that new car orders can be looked up by VIN and last name on order. *bangs head with hammer* There I go again using common sense...dang, gotta go back to therapy now...

Update - just called DC and the gal said same thing, that car is now "going down the line". She stated there is no D2 status and that D status is for "scheduled to be built". Now my est ship date is 8/16 (a day later than before)...

Notes:

On 2005-2006 LX vehicles both U.S. and Canadian models use a "2" for the first digit. A "1" is used for export models.

For the 2005 second digit, "C" designated Chrysler and "D" was for Dodge. It was expanded to 4 codes in 2006.

Position 4 can designate front multi-stage airbags combined with "with/without" side air bags. Position 4 is also not used for "GVWR" on any of the 2005-2006 LX models but is on other DCX vehicles (like Jeep).

Each new model year changes may be made to some of the codes which is why it can get very confusing. It must confuse DC too as there are many mistakes in the service manual charts that give VIN code information.

Most of the positions are somewhat standardized among different manufacturers, to some extent anyway. You can see the "standard" designation positions on the chart at this link: Jeep VIN decoding

I just got my VIN# from the dealer today. I am in D1 status, with an estimated ship date of 8/27 (I ordered my Charger R/T back on 7/26).

I just signed up for the VIN updates over on the Brampton Assembly forums. It is getting closer. Very slooooooowly, but still getting closer!

No No No, camero, D2 status meaning the status of the order, not anything to do with the vin#

According to my DCx sources, all but the protection package daytonas have been built and shipped to the vendor for decal "finishing" D2 status, as it were...

Never seen a D2 designation, and the key is you have an estimated shipping date. Key word there is estimated, and keep in mind shipping alone can take 3-4 weeks, not 5 days. The only vehicle that rocks and rolls when it goes to KZ status is a Viper , which is loaded by Reliable Trucking and it does not go to the rail, then via truck to a holding area. We have seen vehicles get to a holding area and stagnate for 2-3 weeks there. If a vehicle is estimated to leave the middle of this month a good rule of thumb is it is 3-4 weeks out.

Hope that helps, but D2 is only related to a StarWars robot as far as I can tell-- yeh, bad joke.

Sincerely,
